why only the front brakes?

I been checking out a lot of aftermarket brake companies such as brembo, project mu and wilwood. Space I noticed that all of them only provide front brake kits for the 240SX or Silvia as I would be applying them to. Why is this? What would I do if I wanted a full brake kit for all four wheels?

Search harder, there are plenty of different options for the s-chassis.

I was specifically interested in getting some Brembo brakes for my carbut there GT braking systems from what I saw, only had front brakes available for S chassis. I looked at the global application list and with the other Nissan cars they all had rear brakes but they only mentioned the front brakes with five lug hubs for the 240SX. Project mu for their application list had had an F/R table which I believe meant that a should be F/R to indicate that there was both front and rear brake systems offered with them. I only saw an F. I want to wilwood again just to see if I was wrong, and for rear brakes they said they did not offer a particular brake set for a 240SX.

If there are plenty of options, can you just list them? Is there something I'm missing?

I know that, it doesn't make the rear brakes just dead weight sitting there. It doesn't make sense to me to just upgrade the front brakes and leave the rears sitting on stock brakes. if you Upgrade the brakes you do all them in my opinion

stop looking for s-chassis brakes. start looking for more powerful/heavier car brakes.

Use that big head of yours and type into google 240sx brake upgrade. You will be surprised what you find. And if your really smart and creative you will find out that you can get aftermarket bbk kits on to the rear of the s-chassis. This brake topic has been covered soo many times. Quit asking us to hold your hand and spoon feed you answers.

Since you will prob cry and whine that no one will help you... READ these first to give you some understanding and what options are out there.

How To: Evo 8/9 Brembos on 240SX
sentra brembos on s13?

After reading and all of the above and knowing you can use z32,r32/r33/r34 brake stuff you can figure now figure out how to get aftermarket bbk on your s-chassis.

This was the help I was looking for, I genuinely thank you. You could have done without the tone, but I suppose I was not clear on this......I am very new to both these forums and and just tuning in general so please excuse my blatant ignorance. I think you can understand my school of thought that I figured I should look for brakes that were designed for the car I drive. I also apologize for posting this thread I suppose since I was wholly unaware this was a commonly discussed topic, I didn't know that there solutions or substitutions.

I also was not trying to come across as whiny or anything like that; I was just looking for some straightforward answers from more experienced members.

your snarkiness aside, would it have been so hard as to tell me 'look, google this..'? I came here and posted because I did not know what to search for. Whether you've heard this question a lot or not, I don't know, but I don't think it should excuse you from skimping on courteous behaviour just becajse a new guy asked an innocently n00bish question.

Really? You're looking for 240sx brake upgrades right? Maybe google "240sx brake upgrades" .

The tone comes from every new fanboy bandwagon nub that comes on this forum and creates another useless thread about the SAME topic that was covered 2 days ago or a week ago. Yes it is frustrating trying to dig through the mess of a million useless threads because simply people like yourself were too lazy to use google and search for the answer. Honestly your 19 years old and you need to create a thread and have someone tell you use GOOGLE and type "240sx brake upgrade" in the search bar? If you couldn't figure that out for yourself I suggest you stop now, sell your car and run off a cliff.

What did you do through high school when you had to a write an essay and you needed to research a certain topic? I'm sorry if you lack plain common sense. Simply put if you took 5 minutes or less of your time you could have simply found the all the links I posted above for you without creating this useless thread.

Go with the akebono brakes from a 370z...14in front 13.8 rear. The rear caliper is as big as the front brembo brake upgrade.

There's a reason why these reputable companies like brembo etc only sell fronts. You really only want a little bit of brake in the rear, otherwise you'll find yourself doing 180's on the track when your rear brakes lock up... Just think about it, when you brake, the rear wheels are going to have very little weight on them which means very little capability for friction which means they're easier to lock up than the fronts which would have to break much more traction to lock up.

Ever hear of Wayne Sutton's 180sx? It gets run in time attack and yet still has the stock rear calipers (not sure if stock rotor tho)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFVZEb_dtqU

Save some money and wind up with a more stable car; just do z32 rears or the Altima rotor upgrade. I have the defsport Wilwood kit up front on mine and the Altima rotor upgrade out back and I'm very happy with the balance.

Hope that answers your question. Which btw seemed legitimate to me; I'm not sure what's up with the angry people...

Thank you very much, that was indeed legitimate. Their anger might be slightly valid since I didn't contemplate just searching for the damn solution myself.. So yeah I was a dummy in that respect. Sorry about that..

Send a message via AIM to pwhitersxs
Read my post here and go to the end for a link:

FD3S rear brakes on S-chassis

Here is the actual link to do an upgraded rear brake setup on your S13 that I found years ago:

</title> <link rel="shortcut icon" href=/images/"favicon.ico" > <link rel="icon" type="image/gif" href=/images/"animated_favicon1.gif" > <script type="text/javascript"> </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.freshalloy.com/clientscr

CodyAce posted that article here too, only after he ripped it off from me.

You should definitely upgrade all brakes. You do not want improper bias as the 240sx is already front biased enough from the factory.

My brake setup now is:

front:
q45 mounting bracket with altima calipers
Carbotech pads(q45 obviously)
(yes altima calipers will fit on q45 mounting bracket. Just have to be creative with the slider pins)
This gives me a thicker rotor and not so much piston surface area so the brakes don't lock up as bad.

Rear:
z31 mounting bracket with stock s13 rear caliper.
92 Q45 rotor
Carbotech pads

The real problem is an actual true brake upgrade would be too pain in the butt to do for "average online bbk buyer." Heck, we get guys asking afterwards "why my brake suck after bbk" or "bmc upgrade?" Then there's the rear brakes and fabricating brakets to work with wilwood rears.

Honestly, if you have an S13, the Q45 brake fronts should be fine without much brake bias.

Interesting....how would this be installed if it is a Wilwood caliper?

ingenious but at close to $1000 before shipping i feel that most would rather go the cheaper, more laborious route

^ i don't think this can really be compared to z32 rear brakes.

i emailed them asking how the park brake worked

Hi Mate

It comes with it's own custom cable which replaces the standard ones.

Many Thanks
