SR SR20 gt2871r losing power at full boost

So after a couple days of breaking back in my engine I decide to do a nice pull and see what happens. Turbo starts to spool and I get full boost at say 3800 and it pulls hard until about 5k and then it suddenly loses it's pull and keeps revving up while not pulling and the turbo is still at full boost according to boost gauge. I put fresh bk7re's in with a gap of .30 and decided to open the gap to .35 because that's what they were when I pulled the old ones and I took it for a rip and it pulled hard until I shifted at 7k, so I thought it wasn't getting enough spark before so problem solved right? Nope!

Take it out for a spin today and the same thing happens pulls hard and at about 5-5500 it loses it's power. Anyone know what's going on and what I should do?

Sounds like a boost leak. Might just be inconsistent.

What wastegate are you using? Exhaust pressure might be overpowering the internal wastegate's tension on the flapper. Seen it happen a couple of times.

Using a stock 12lb internal. Never had a problem before I pulled the engine now it's doing this. Only difference I believe is I'm running richer then before (big backfires all the time)

Really sounds like a boost leak. Check all couplers and lines. If you can't find it then buy the leak down test kit from siliconeintakes.com It's not very expensive. Sometimes the leak wont be present until the engine heats up and couplers expand.

Yeah it's weird it spools and starts to pull then as soon as I actually get full boost at like 3500 it stops pulling hard until about 5500 then my boost is instantly back and stays until redline.

I'm using a z32 maf and 550cc wrx sti injectors.
