Really nice custom anodized branding there. I like this build already! 2 great Nissan assemblies married together with top shelf parts!

Being that this car will not likely have a VQ35 installed again, I opted for a more permanent mounting solution. This involved modification to the cossmember, designing new engine mount brackets, and mounts.

good work ian! no big deal on the crossmember if you ever went back to VQ, since they are cheap and easy to find

Thanks Geoff, I was hesitant about modifying the crossmember at first, but I think the extra effort will yield a stronger result.

There are quite a few challenges when installing this engine into Z33, but many of the mounting obstacles are similar to other RB conversions. Being that the engine mount brackets on the RB sit so far forward, in order to center the load over the crossmember, extensions need to me made. Most RB conversion kits use a brackets that gets bolted to the crossmember which moves the mounting point forward on the crossmember. This essentially creates a lever that creates a torquing effect which causes great strain on the fulcrum, or in this case the crossmember. In most cases a conversion bracket will work without failure even in extreme conditions, however I opted for a more structural solution, which permanently fixes the extensions to the crossmember.

Thanks everybody, progress will start to pick up when I receive a few more items. Everything is so tight that everything must be installed before the mounts can be fabricated. And yes, this is my friends garage, he is a die hard race car enthusiast.

Yes actually, it won't likely be for another couple of weeks, but I will be sure to keep you posted. Just to be sure, it is just a bare block and head, no rotating assembly or oil squirters. One cylinder has a small scratch in it, which could likely be honed out without an overbore. May not be useful for someone starting from scratch, much great for someone building a block on the side.

Still trying to sort out all the clearance issues with engine, while still being able to run a large single turbo. Found some free time at work to start fabricating the engine mount plates.
