RB i want more power for my RB20... HELP

OK i have a question for all you RB techs? i am wanting to do some power upgrades to my RB20 im tuned right now at 419hp with 378tq, now i have tomie poncams 252's, custom side intake manifold with a 90mm throttle body, 450cc injectors, hybrid turbo wit a 60ar. and a full 2.5 HKS exhaust, and niztune for computer system... and as far as everything else its all stock. now i was thinking about putting some 272 cam in it but i could only find some for a RB25. also i would like to know if anyone has any opinions on what else i could do other than getting a RB25 and doing a motor swap? can i use other performance parts from a RB25?

Buy an RB25 so you can buy the cams and put them in it

water meth is always a good idea.

thats the thing with the rb20. if you wanna put out more power then you already have ( which are some impressive numbers btw ) you're gonna need water meth because the cylinder bore is rather small so its prone to detonating whats you go big power. water meth stops this from happening

If you decide to get a bigger turbo, you're definitely gonna need bigger injectors too.

Honestly, I think you're about close to what RB20s can handle. I'd upgrade to an RB25 if I were you.

How about a RB25/26 swap but nah more power you should start looking up internal parts imo.

Do not do this! There is a 14 page thread on Ausiskyline about this. There are a few who have been able to successfully place rb25/26 cams into a rb20 head and it work. All others have bent the cams, damaged the valve train etc. To the OP I am pretty much at the same point with my rb20. Like said earlier you can up the turbo and the injectors and turn the boost up. Cost efficient route would have been to just get a rb25/26 but of course that is hindsight now..

I think he's telling him to get a whole engine, not just the bottom end. Plus, why would you want to use the RB20 head? RB25 has the added benefit of the VVL, not much a big deal when you go shoot for high power, but its good to have to a certain point.

The way he stated it was as if he was telling him to put the rb25/26 cams into a rb20 head. There is a whole debate about weather that is possible or not. The few that have successfully done the swap have said they gained 20-30hp out of simply taking a rb25/26 cams and putting it into a rb20 head. If that was what he was suggesting then it is a bad idea.

RB25 head has no VVL, it has VTC like the S14 SR's.

bigger turbo, bigger downpipe and exhaust, bigger injectors, upgraded ignition system, and a retune. we used to race a 2.1 liter non variable cam timing, 4 cylinder early 80`s ford cortina 4 cylinder engine that made about 900 horse power.we used a t72 size turbo. yes it probably had some serious boost lag(we had anti lag that let us leave the line at 40 psi of boost). the point i`m trying to get across is, bigger turbo will give you more power. yes, it is only a 2.0, but you have 6 cylinders that would help spool a bigger turbo much faster than a 2.0 4 cylinder engine will. if the exhaust a/r is sized properly and the ecu tune is right on, you can have a big turbo with minimum lag.

if your really just looking to squeeze a little more out of it you may want to consider a 3in exhaust. That 2.5 is prob a restriction at over 400whp
