SR Japan tuned ECU

Well my clip came with an ecu tuned by veilside in Japan. I really have no way of finding out what it was tuned for but the clip obviously had an aftermarket BOV (atmospheric), and a intake adapter, possibly an aftermarket MAFS. The clip still has HKS plugs and everything else engine wise is stock. I;m debating as to whether I should use the tuned ECU or not. I'm still kind of afraid of it running lean and blowing up though. I'll be running a BOV so I'm not too worried about it running lean if it's programmed to adjust fuel after the BOV purges, but I am worried if it was programmed for an aftermarket MAFS. Does anyone know whether it would run lean or rich if it was programmed for an aftermarket MAFS and I used a stock one? Any suggestions on what I should do? Thanks.

Intake, MAFS and harness were all missing from the clip. All I have is two wires heading to where the MAFS was.

if the maf is not right for the ecu then your car will run like s*&%.. i know this for a fact. you could get a z32 and s-13 and try both of them in the car when it running. nost likey its for a z32 maff but who really knows.

as for the injectors are they stock?

if you dont know then what color are they?

hope that helps. so the car has no intake tube then right? ryan

As far as I can tell the injectors are stock. I believe they are gray w/ a purple dot, I'll check again tonight. The car has almost all the piping it's just missing the airbox, crankcase/valvecover breather filter/catch and lines, the MAFS and harness. I am positive the guy had an aftermarket BOV and pretty sure he had a aftermarket cone type filetr setup. Somehwere along the line the clip got stripped of all it's visible performance parts(BOV, intake, struts, coils, etc.) all that was left was the ECU and the plugs. As far as the MAFS, it's gone like I said but I don't know whether it was taken cause they wanted to get the intake off and it was easier to undo the pipe clamp and cut teh wires than unscrew the adapter and unplug the harness from the MAFS or whether it was actually an aftermarket MAFS.

If the mafs was tuned differently, the car won't even stay on, it'll turn on sputter like a really bad vaccume leak and die. Usually if you run everything on the clip, it was tuned somewhat properly. Just don't do any serious boosting till u get meters and check everything out. Mines came with an ecu, and I've had no problems, Of course i'm not sure what exactly it was tuned for?!?

Opened her up and took a pic today, I don't know if it helps at all, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

CAN U TAKE A PIC OF THE INJECTORS? IF THERE PURLE THERE MIGHT BE 550CC INJECTORS. i dont think veilside would tune a ecu for the simple things i.e boost, speed cut...

id say there is a good agressive program on those chips, u might be able to send it to jim wolf and have them check they might be able to help id say probubly not but u never know.

all 3 ecus i had that were programmed had one chip not 2.. but if u have a pic of the injectors that might help u trouble shoot, also i bet the car had a different maf cause other wise they would have uncliped the maf and not cut the wires. i would say if the maf was factory then would have just left it there but who knows for sure. hope that helps... ryan

I checked and it's not a purple dot, it's a light green spot. I've attached a pic, but you can't make out the color that well.
