I got the reels today and went out to install them... after pulling out the auto belt motor and track, I went to bolt in the manual belt reel. It's too short to mount to the bolt holes of the auto belt. I was of the impression these would bolt right in just like Canadian S13 front belts... do I have to fabricate a bracket to extend the top, or find Canadian belts, or what?

I just grabbed this from the euro S14 FSM:

It looks like that's definitely just the wrong part... it's not an S14 front seat belt. That top tab is supposed to be a lot longer.

It doesn't look like the rear belt from this FSM though... who knows what it is...

Depends.

Belts alone are pretty cheap used. Be patient, wait for someone parting out a Canadian S13 or any S14... or buy belts from a junkyard. Price varies. The belt assemblies are also available new from Nissan, something like $250 a side. Best to buy used

Then you're left with three options.

Live with no interior panels (free); cut up your stock interior panels (free); or get Canadian S13 interior panels and headliner (varies).

It's not that bad new... the local Nissan dealer here told me $165 or so per side for S14 belts. Still a bit extreme compared to buying used for $25-40 per side.

Well as if it weren't ****ty enough that my seatbelt plans were foiled, as I was almost done reinstalling the auto belt hardware (tightening the lower bolt) I slipped and caught a fingernail on the metal support brace and tore it halfway off! Hurts like a sonofabitch

STUPID RETARDED 90s DOT, this is all your fault.

Anyway, I managed to get it all back together and tomorrow I will definitely call the guy I bought these from to find out what the deal is. I know that it was clear I wanted the front belts. What gets me is, I looked in that box and there are two of (what looks like) rear seat buckles with straps attached in there... so I dunno wtf these reels are...

I just got the same front seatbelts

. I'll make these things fit,I make a bracket. Seems safe cuz the top bolt is just a puny aluminum 10mm bolt(prolly there just to keep it in place/vertical), while the bottom one looks beefy.

I got them from a guy on the east coast from the FA boards, He's a good guy and known. I think S14's prolly had 2 different types of seatbelts. I am sure they aren't rear seatbelts, cuz the rears are an obviously different design and parts are different just looking at them.

Just got done installing them, whew. Took a while with all the little screws and sh*t. I made a bracket and even drilled out the top hole for the 10 mm bolt cuz it stripped easy. That bolt is really an aluminum screw and stripped hand tightening it. So I drilled it out, made a nice bracket and used a nice real 10mm bolt for the top part. That foo aint going nowhere! Everything else bolted up easy. I just need a dremel now so I can cut a hole on the b-pillar panel...prolly wont do it though cuz it don't really bug me. Other than that, these manual belts are fuk*n awesome! No more need to wait for it to open, and more exit/entrance room. My car feels sexier and less ghetto. These belts also hug you much better than those crappomatic belts too. I'll prolly burn them if noone wants them. I got a great idea, at the next 240 meet lets all bring our crappomatic belts and have a bon-fire

you got american s14 belts, no biggie, i just used the bottom bolt and its fine, some ppl make a bracket to hold it straight, my friend zip tied the top hole to the hole instead of making a bracket, either way, the bottom bolt is the only one that is important.

Thanks for the replies. I figured I would have to just rig the top to secure myself, probably cut a strip of steel and make some holes in it, that seems to be the easiest secure way. haha, I dunno about that ziptie method
