| i need help my sohc doesnt stay at a steddy idle i try to turn on the car and all that happen is the rpm just drops down and turns off i already looks for vaclines and any leaks but nothin was foun i thought the problem could have been the iacv but now my mechanic thinks it might be the timing belt but i think hes triipen it doesnt sound like nuthins wrong with the motor everythin sounds the same also wen rev it to stay on it makes a lil noise in btw 2500 3000 rpm help plz | |

| Zilvia Junkie ![]() | it could idle better with an sr swap but thats my opinion seriously though what kind of noise does it make. what have you checked and what can we rule out. like he said check the maf. could be a vaccuum leak. are you getting fuel. hows the spark. are all your connections good i.e. injector clips. is it a misfire?

| RedLine SlideWays ![]() | Well your mechanic is wrong because theses motors do not have belts they have chains and I highly doubt that your cam timing just hopped a few teeth your valves would be hitting when you crank it. So that's not the problem. No as far as ignition timing that's is one thing I would check also the vac lines right under the throttle body one goes to the intake mani. Also look at the connection at the maf make sure nothing is shorting.
