SR valve stem seals...how far down do they go

How far down the guide should the valve stem seals go?

I KNOW I have the right ones, and when i push them all the way down, there is a small gap between the metal on the outside of the valve stem seal and the surface below (SMALL gap).

I THINK this is ok but just wanted to double check.....we put an intake seal next to the guide, and it looked to us like the guide sticks up too far anyway for the seal to go all the way down and touch the surface below it.

Just wanted to double check, so I don't burn buttloads of oil when I put it all back together.

Thanks

Fuck.....the springs and retainers and keepers and valves are all already on.

I feel like someone who has done this before (or many times) will know the answer.

I really think they are fine, but just wanted a confirmation....

you will be fine. They don't seat all the way down. Just make sure the seal "snaps" into the groove on the valve guide.

yea if the seals touch the head then the guides are not in all the way.

Beautiful, fellas. Thank you for the clear and concise responses.

The other reason I was paranoid, was that they were SO hard to get off, I thought they would be way tighter and harder to get on!

Nah, they are usually hard to get off because the rubber is just cooked and stuck onto the valve guides. And like everyone else said, they don't sit all the way down.
