Real Apex'i N1 dual or not, the design of that exhaust SUCKS unless you're still in 1998 and rocking an S13 with shocks and springs and cool race stickers with no real mods.

I would rather buy a USED real exhaust than an ebay one, but whatever.

If you're poor do what you gotta do.
I can vouch on the design crappiness. I have one and I have plenty of different vibrations when I drive. I believe it hits the, Driveshaft, swaybar and diff output shaft. I have also broken 2 of those foam brackets that are right after the bottom half of the exhaust manifold where it sandwiches between that and the cat.

well thankfully I am not in CA and don't have to worry about smog, honestly at this point the only thing I need to pass emissions is a cat of any kind, i could just cut one in but I want something I can take off and put a test pipe in when I go to the track.

my stock muffler has a huge hole rusted in it and sounds like a raspy piece of crap, so I need a new muffler I just wanted to know which ones sound like rice and which ones are worth it, i need something that fits and i won't have to fuck with...thats all. does anyone know of one where the hangers fit and don't have shitty welds and dont cost too much, there has to be something.

from what I have seen the ssac catback looks EXACTLY like the ebay ones, hangers, piping and all and you have said the ss ones fit good

SSAC is a eBay famous brand, that's where they got their start, so as far as anyone is concerned SSAC is eBay.

You can search that companies name and probably find some info on here.

It sounds like you answered your own question so just go order one.

If its cheaper, then go with ebay.
But it would seem you could just go to a mom and pop muffler shop and get the cheapest muffler, and a cat, and a custom line for a little over 100.

Otherwise, i would think the dual is to much airflow for a KA, and just extra wieght that can swing, and vibrate, and break hangers. (imo, i havent used either).

Shit, go too the JY and get a cat and have it welded in. Then after smog, take the line off and cram a broom stick up there if its that important to you to not have a CAT. (old school, lol)

Wow i actually really like that one, and itcomes with a test pipe which I can use until i find a nice cat for emissions......so far this one looks nice but also it doesn't look like it is stainless steel...I live in RI so rust is really a big issue over here...also I could never loweer my car that much, RI has the worst roads in the entire country...i'll take some pics so you can see why...lol you won't believe it. Exactly why I got shocks/springs instead of coilovers...

Trusts13 do you know what it is made out of, is it stainless or just polished?

why not buy you your muffler of choice and then go to Mineke, or however its spelt, and have them bend you a 2.5" pipe from the header or cat-back. thats what i did and the piping only cost me $150 or so and another $70 for a magnaflow muffler....

That is why I put my stock exhaust on.
But the stock exhaust is really ugly.

same here - in socal, got the HKS one that looks exactly like stock, but has the breathing room of a thick pipe. no problem with los angeles' finest.... when pulled over, get treated like a respectable adult

ive got one like the can, sounds fine, fitments is ok, not great, but ok. and it only rattles because the hanger that mounts to the frame rail by the gastank rusted and broke off... so the can hangs low and bounces. but the exhaust itself is fine, just fine

There's no can, so not much to scrape. Super cheap. You can find many used ones forsale here. Very light.

The most legit exhaust note for the ka hands down.

cant get tickets.
One less thing they can pull you over for.
saves your hearing (really, look up truckers ear, 20% plus hearing loss from wind and mufflers.)
fits nice.
saves money.

Only the wheel squeel can give you away at 3am.
Plus, you dont wake the nieghborhood everytime you go somewhere at night.

So go bone stock now, or 3 years from now when whats new, hits your town.

+1

stock KA = stock exhaust. With only 2-3 HP gain from the ebay type of stuff you might as well just keep it stock. Unless you are looking to get more sounds out of your engine and attract unwanted attention, i'd just keep it stock. Otherwise, get an exhaust system that has been proved to show considerable gains.

why loose torque, its what the KA is good at
which flowmaster?

i wonder how it would sound on a SR20det..

What he said, I got 2.5 inch piping and a barely used, stock looking magnaflow muffler for $110. The car isnt even that much louder than stock until you floor it.

I've got the ebay dual and just recently did I remedy the fitment problem for good.... After about 6 months of dragging and ripping the center muffler open I took it to a muffler shop and had them remove the muffler and weld in a pipe in place of the muffler and I no longer scrap. I'll post a pic when I get home.

i HAVE that dual, it fits like SHIT
first you have to bend the hangars on the end because they dont fit
second this hanger comes NO WHERE close to the mount spot.

and it rubs on the sub frame/ sway bar.

id try my luck with the traditional one.

Plus i got all my emmisions out too. (never worked right, was wired wrong, several hundreds spent trying to pass smog legitamitly)
So Its just less of a chance to get pulled over.
And even less of a chance for the engine to sound "modified"

And this coming from the sparkle pink/purple 240 in LA, lol

and i prefer the little back pressure and low end power rather than that couple hp on the top end

most def man, shopping on a budget takes some presicion. i am sure I will find something good somwhere. I like the look of the meagan dual tip muffler but I have heard nothing but bad things about them.

From what I have seen they sound pretty good and I am sure they fit fine, looks like the same piping as the stock setup

this is the exact look I would like but in my opinion it costs too much, If I could find a cheap version of this same style I woild buy it right now lol. Anyone have any comments about this megan catback?

Well, I'll add my 2 cents in just to give you another option if it isnt out of your price range.. I just bought a brand new Skunk2 MegaPower 3" exhaust on a liquidation sale for 315 shipped off ebay. I will also be receiving 22 dollars from Microsoft live Cashback. So I will be paying 293 total for a brand new 3" stainless steel exhaust(after I get the $22 cashback).

I know, your probably thinking... Skunk2!?! But after some research I found out they are made by Invidia and just rebadged under Skunk2.I happen to be a big fan of Invidia, I had their N1 system on my STi, and also on my STi swapped 2.5RS and they make a great exhaust. Very high quality, sounds awesome, with perfect fitment as well.

Well, I got the exhaust in over this past weekend and I must say it looks JUST like my Invidia exhaust, even looks like the same parts used(resonator, muffler, flanges). The only difference is the piping isnt polished like the Invidia and it has a Skunk2 badge on it instead. I could care less about what name is on it, it's a great deal on a great exhaust! Hope this helps, I can post pics if you want. Its not installed yet though.

hmm I looked on skun2s website and it didn't seem like they made one for the s13. Do you have a link on ebay where I can the one you bought?

That was the auction I won. They have more for sale but it looks like they raised the price up a little bit. The pic they show is just a generic pic, let me know if you wanna see some actual pics.

pacesetter is a notoriously shitty "performance" brand. they've been around forever selling their "monza" exhaust for every car ever made.
