S14 Dash Removal

I was wondering.. When I remove my dash, does the passenger side air bag come out with it, or is it two seperate pieces?

Basically I want to put in a new dash (mine is cracked all to hell) with a dash out of a parted S14. Their passenger air bag deployed so I will be leaving mine intact.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

The airbag isn't part of the dash itself it's bolted to the roll bar.

yeah. it does make things easier if youve never taken an s14 dash off using the FSM, Factory Service Manual.

I took mine off without a FSM. Just take your time and check everywhere and behind everything for botls. They will surprise you where they are located. Esp the two at the top of the dash and the one behind the passenger side air vent that connects to the door.

Thanks for the quick replies!! I will be using the FSM to remove it.. Just wanted to make sure I can use a dash where the passenger airbag was deployed, and it sounds like I can!!

If you don't mind the big, gaping hole left from the bag going off, it's fine.

Just disconnect the battery, and your fine. Pop off all the plastic pieces and remove the screws in the vent area's. Its so easy its stupid. I've done it without even using the fsm. Just start doing it and you will be fine. Takes like 3 hours if your slow and taking your time.

I think the s14 has less bolts. I've swapped about 3 s13 dashes and 1 s14 dash and i felt the s14 was easier.

Brewsky. S14 dashes are super easy to remove. I've removed mine 3 or 4 times and it takes me less than an hour. Start by removing all the plastics around the steering column then drop the steering column with the two 12mm bolts then take out the gauge cluster. Then just remove the radio and a/c stuff from the center and from there its really easy

Well I can't say for sure, but I do know that I have taken out the dash, left the air bag there, turned on the engine, drove down the block and back. The aig bag did NOT deploy.

If there is no problem with your car, I would highly doubt that the air bag will go off.

You're the worst fucking reader ever. Unless you turn your key on then beat the control unit with a hammer, how in hell do you think the bag will trigger?

Fuck off. You're the same dumbass who assumed bolting wheel adapters to your existing hubs required new rotors of a completely different bolt pattern. It's readily apparent anything you attempt to do will be wrong anyway. Assuming you'll set off the airbag by just removing the dash is just plain retarded. I didn't think people could be that stupid.
