SR ecu

I have a blacktop s13 that i came in possesion of. As i was installing it i notice the ecu on the back of the ecu someone has written red top on it. I was wondering how to identify if i have the right ecu or if it even matters. I tried to search the archives didn't comem up with what i was looking for . maybe I missed it.

you can use e5 or 62. you just need to use different O2 sensors with them.

e5 = fatty O2
62 = skinny 02

E5 is for a blacktop ECU with M/T, REdtop is 62 with M/T. What does your ECU say on it besides redtop? these are both for s13 models if u have a s14 or s15 Sr ECU Number will be different, but i have heard of people interchanging s13 blacktop ECU's and redtop ECU's.
Heres a link to the SR20det faq. Just read a little towards the bottom of the first page, there is more as u go thru the pages and dont always look for the easy way out.

It won't matter, most important is you need to reference the ECU number what everyone is saying and have the car wired up to match the ECU that you have. The car will run Perfect!! Always Check you oil Pressure and make sure the oil pan is not smashed and restricting oil through the pickup. Good luck with your project!!
