Disabling knock sensor. Keeping knocklite

Im pretty sure my knock sensor is picking up fasle knock so I want to disable it. But I want my knocklite to work still.

Ive heard about the 1 megaohm resistor, but im not sure exactly how it works. From what ive gathered the resistor has to go in between the signal wire which goes to the ecu and a ground.

Like this

ground---------resistor----------knock sensor pin on ecu

So can I just cut the knock sensor wire right by the ecu and put a resistor in between a ground and the ecu. Then leave the knocklite wire hooked up the the original knock sensor wiring.

This is on an s13 ka by the way

You can turn it off on your bin... But that is the correct way to hook it up.

Do not trust the knocklite without a set of headphones or chassis ears or something to listen to it.
