i'm not too sure but my blacktop power fc d-jetro ignition timing map(base map) different from my friend's power fc redtop L-jetro(air flow version) i tried to use the ign and fuel map from red top base map once but my car ran even worse. it won't rev past 3500rpm it felt like the fuel is cut and knock.. :/

If you are getting a plug and play EMS get the exact model unit that matches your car's wiring loom.

It's worth the extra money to avoid any headache.

If you are talking Black top 13 VS. Red top 13 motors these are the same pin outs- except for the 96-98 model s13 motor ECUs which on injector ground pin needs to be re-pinned and switched (iirc)

S13 RED TOP vs. S14 Black Top - no these will not cross over

OK... here are some dumb facts.

S13 Red Top was made from 89-95
S13 Black Top was made from 91-98

The Black Top does have different pin outs from the Red Top and more specifically on the later 96-98 models.

Confusion is mixed when you dont state the actuall facts when buying an engine... be very very specific... if you want a Black Top and your paying $500 more then a Red Top... Demand that you get a 96-98... and know what to look for when you get it... specifically the Pin Out on the ECU!!!!
And just so we are straight.... a 96-98 (S13) Black Top is not a 95-98 (S14) Black Top... this was recently confused in a Major Mag. (Stupid Street).

Look at your ECU Pin Out and post the number of pins per section. This was someone can help you better.

I have not verified this but I am still searching for you to find more info.

RPS13 1991-95 SR20DET - 8/7/8/9
RPS13 1996-98 SR20DET - 8/7/8/9
RPS13 1996-98 SR20DE - 8/7/8/9

The pin out suggest they are the same but wiring could be different.
Oddly the SR20DE and DET are the same pin outs... and nothing was suggested about Red or Black Tops other then year.

For those with S14/S15

S14 1993 -98 SR20DE - 8/7/8/10
S14 1993 -96 SR20DET - 8/10/10/10
S14 1996 -98 SR20DET - 8/7/8/10
S15 1999+ SR20DET - 8/7/8/10

Same thing... we know for a fact the S15 ECU is very different and can't be used on the S14 SRs.
