Massive Exhaust Leak?

My friend brings over his s13 because its overheating and has a small exhaust leak. His radiator ends up having a crack so I replace it for him, his intake tubing has a big ass cut through it where the TB connects, so I replace that too and clean out everything. I adjusted the timing etc. and made his car run clean for a high mileage poorly taken care of sohc. Idled at 1k without jumping, but then once he reved the engine, it shot out water like a water gun literally. About 5 - 10 feet away from the exhaust. I told him to turn off the car asap, and right now the cars chilling at my pad.

Any idea what this is?

its a 190k mile sohc s13. POORLY taken care.

Its a SOHC, find one and buy it. I'm sure its in better condition than that beast.

As soon as you get it, run some seafoam to clean things up.

Was it water or coolant coming out the exhaust?

water.

I told my friend to get a new engine or go to dohc and I would do everything for him, but he got the car for 500 dollars and doesnt really have extra dough to throw around. If anyone has a cheap SOHC in socal, Ill come and pick it up.

So, it was just condensation coming out the exhaust? Not the coolant in the engine?

doesnt make sense. Is the water drain bolt near the exhaust manifold missing? Either that or its a cracked block if you let it idle untill warm.
