Wait, you guys don't weld naked? I mean sure I wear an auto-dimming mask and some gloves, but who the fuck needs a shirt, pants, or shoes?

Gotta get my tan somehow...

do not adjust your monitors-
There REALLY IS that much flake in my engine bay. Paint came out super glossy/deep/baller.

Tubs weren't 'finished' (read: I suck at body filler I guess) as well as I'd hoped, but they still look baller, and should give me the room in the bay that I need for piping/air filter and the clearance I need. Discuss?

One more... ready for the RB25-engine-bay-enema tomorrow!

thanx guys... hoping to have the car done within a few months and ripping up the track!

sun burn from welding > sun burn from being outside

I can't tell you how many times i've been in a tight spot welding and couldn't fit a helmet in there, turn head, close eyes, face burn (thumbs up).

but really, you don't want skin caner.

i got it about a month ago.

i wasn't even the one welding. i was doin other shit while luke was welding. i never had any problems before, but i guess i caught a stray glance at just right angle or something.

i woke up at 6:30 the next morning and it felt like i had an eyelash in my eye, so i got up and tried to get it out. then i heard the garbage truck coming and remembered i hadn't put the garbage cans on the street, so i went outside, and then it felt like i was getting sand blasted into my eyes.

fuck that

at least i got some vicodin

Welding is awsome! But when I first started, I forgot about the HF start on the TIG machine I was using, and it was on and I accidently contacted the tungsten to the metal and it burned my eyes!

That was only for no more than .5 seconds but I started seeing everything green lol and my eyes hurted.

I went blind for 3 days, and my eyes turned into balls of jelly. They were oozing puss, and glued themselves shut. The doctors said it was the worst flash burn they have ever seen. Shit hurt hella bad. They game me some pain meds, but i couldn't find them for 3 days because I was blind.

during welding class back in college I set the hand piece of the mig welder I was using on the metal surface I was about to weld, my face was rather close to it, and a single spark flew back into my eye before I nodded my helmet down, thank God for contacts, it melted and embedded into the contact, rather than my eyeball. Last time I ever used a NON auto darkening helmet.

Deuceforty asked me to make him a set of Brembo adapters
figured it would be a good opportunity to get some Bridgeport experience
we have a lot of 6061 Aluminum lying around the shop
so I made them out of that
would have been a pain to go to all that trouble for just one set so I made 4 extra sets
would have loved to put helicoils in the threads but
we don't work much with metric threads so we don't have the kit in the shop
and it wouldn't have made sense to buy one just for this
excuse the shitty cell phone pic

It feels like someone poured sand in your damn eyes. I had that happen once. Shit sucked. I personally never wear a jacket or arm guards, but I am rarely doing enough welding at one time to really burn myself. The little slag ball burn spots do kinda suck though. I also like the regular ass old style face shields much better then the auto darkening ones. It takes my eyes too long to adjust when the shade darkens so I am basically welding blind for a handful of seconds. The nicer auto darkening ones aren't so bad, but I still like the regular glass better.
