| Now I can officially join you guys in this thread. Got this from my grandpa today. He bought it with the intention of using it and never really got around to it so he gave it to me. Needs to be cleaned up some but otherwise is in great shape! Tomorrow I'll call around and see if I can find a gas regulator and shielding gas tank. Time to do some fabricating! ![]() ![]() On welding cart my grandpa made: ![]() | |

| [JEFE S14] ![]() | ^^^ Yeah, I've got to make a cart for mine. Last time I did the math on making one though, it's almost cheaper to buy one for $200. ![]() Holy crap Luke, that's some major oil cooler action there. Hows clearance inside that passenger side tub with the turbo cutout? |
| | |
| | #1868 |
| Premium Member ![]() | Has complete clearance. 3" or so at full lock.

| [JEFE S14] ![]() | The badassery coming from your car, through the internet, to my computer, tickles my penis. How does that work? Fab Question: My RB25 fuel rail has a kink at the feed, and it's bad enough to give me the heeby jeebies when I think about running it. As far as running an aftermarket rail, I'd have to swap to top-feed injectors, and it's not in the budget. I have an Aeromotive FPR with -6an ports on it, what's the consensus on drilling the ends out of my stock fuel rail, welding some -6 steel fittings on the ends, and capping the factory feed/return ports? The ID of the rail seems just about perfect (just shy of 1/2")... anything I should know before I do this? Naturally, I'm going to pull the injectors out before I do anything, and get new O-rings before throwin em back in. |

This seemed like a super "chancy" thing to try, but apparently V8 guys do this all the time (-an fittings on stock rails)... I guess it's not as far out as I first thought.

| [JEFE S14] ![]() | Fuel Rail Mods So I was totally fine keeping the stock rail and using a Nismo FPR adapter ($40 ) to connect my Aeromotive FPR to the rail... even though it's a pain since the Nismo FPR has a 5/16" push-on fitting while the Aeromotive has 1/2" NPT->-6an fittings on it... until I saw this kink in the feed...![]() This was the straw that 'broke the fuel rails back' - I decided to cut the feed/return tubes off, weld in blockoff pieces, and weld on some -6an fittings. Cut the tubes off with a Sawzall, then grinded (ground?) the 'stubs' down and punched/drilled 3/8" holes in the endcaps: ![]() Took some more material off the "edge" and per Bill's suggestion, got in there with the air die and took the coating off the inside as best as I could: ![]() First fitting and block-off piece welded on: ![]() Let me take this opportunity to say how much zinc SUCKS - as you can see in the pics, I took it down to bare metal all over where I was working, but as soon as I started to lay a bead, the white powder mess corrodes all over the place, and I had to wire-wheel it all down before laying another one... Was tricky, but all the welds looked good (good penetration and no gap) enough for me - also, no gas = splashing bits all over. They got taken off later... Other end - showing how since the piece was so small, I had to weld one side, bend the flap over, then weld the other - I couldn't hold it to tack two sides lol. I cleaned this side up even more, and tried laying longer beads (for less stop/clean/restarts) - came out pretty much the same. ![]() Everything grinded smooth (took FOREVER, but I love how my new air grinder can regulate speed - that and the fact that it was so much lighter than my big electric one made it much easier to do 'precision' grinding) and masked for primer: ![]() Steel wooled... ![]() ... and primered! ![]() Discuss. |
| | |
| | #1874 |
| [JEFE S14] ![]() | Hahaha, no? The rail is masked off, and those are the removable aluminum caps below. Injectors are chillin in plastic baggies. ![]() |
| | |
| | #1875 |
| Leaky Injector ![]() | A friend had a -6 steel weld on fitting brazed to his stock rail, you couldn't even tell it wasn't factory, especially after it was powdercoated. Good effort though, plated stuff sucks for welding |

| Zilvia Junkie ![]() | A little more of the 1UZ-FE Twin turbo 5 Speed MKIII Supra I did a while back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And before anyone asks about why I build the flat pipe like that. I had no choice. Bosses choice not mine. I bitched about 10 times a day about doing it that way (Because it took so friggin long... ). Could have been done in a much easier fashion for sure.

| Yes that's my real name ![]() | we picked up a 7" lcd monitor to use as a gauge cluster today ![]() it's mounted to the CF panel we made, and connects to a VGA-RCA converter box, which is connected to the laptop, which is connected to the OBDII port, receiving all the sensor input and datalogging everything. and we can watch porn on it. |

The only problem I see is small text on the gauges possibly not being sharp. Funny, I'm actually sketching out the template for my Kognition gauge panel with my new gauges right now... keeping the Autometer LFG Boost/Water Temp/Oil Pressure, and added Fuel Level and a Summit 3 3/8" 8k RPM Tach with a tiny shift light. 5" Tachs are for ricers, but I don't have to tell any of you that...

Classifieds - MP3Car.com Look around on this site. new 10.4 Desktop TFT LCD Monitor w Touch Screen + VGA The screens can be found for under $200 easily especially if you don't need the touchscreen functionality. You can find some more general info here. LCD/Display - MP3Car.com And there's always eBay Here's mine in the radio spot. Pics are a little blurry but it's crystal clear in person. Using Nissan Data Scan to display gauges. If it wasn't a daily driver for me I would put a screen in the dash too. Worked great for me at the track to monitor water temps, etc. ![]() ![]() You could also disassemble the monitor so it's mounted flush with your CF panel. Jeff is probably right though the text will just be a little blurry. Send me a PM if u have more questions.
