Does anyone know if they are different than US spec calipers? Where there any factory options for bigger brakes? I'm asking since the SCCA class I am racing in doesn't allow for aftermarket calipers but does allow for updating and backdating components within a model line. Thanks!

The JDM brakes were the same as usdm brakes, IIRC.  You can get OEM Brembo flats and some KVR or porterfield pads.  Those will help you out significantly.

I thought Courtesy Nissan-Dallas (www.courtesyparts.com) offered the S14 upgrade for the 240SX which was bigger.  You might want to check it out to be sure.

The Japanese-spec S14 K's and S15 Spec-R front brakes were similar to 300ZX front brakes (slightly larger rotors and 4-piston calipers).  I dunno about the rear brakes or the master cylinder.

When changing your brake fluid, remember to dispose of any excess fluid properly. It might be inconvenient, but there's no excuse for not drinking it all.

That's what I know.

As for updating/backdating... sorry - it must be the car as sold here! &nbsp;Otherwise, you could just drop and SR in there and dominate ES. &nbsp;Not to mention all the b16 Civics... &nbsp;

Get some good pads and better tires and you'll be amazed.

The 240SX is in GS now... &nbsp;Looking at the current classes, if the car was sold with a turbo here I think it'd be in DS with the WRX, DSM turbos, etc... &nbsp;but that's just pointless speculation.

So, uh, yeah. &nbsp;no updating/backdating with JDM parts. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
