Hola all,

I have spent a lot time working to get my 96 240 ready with a turbo.  I have a issue with the turbo exhaust housing hittng the very end of the Master cylinder and brake line.

I have the following parts:
Revhard mainfold.
Custom made mainifold, same as revhard.

I have the tried the following turbos to see if one fits.

Garrett T-4/Garrett T-3 ehaust housing. Not even close, ove by 1 1/2 inches to clear completely.

Garrett T-4/Turbonetics stage 3 T-3 exhaust housing. ALMOST Fits 1/2 to 3/4 to clear completly.

Neither fit.  I need about a 3/4 of an inch but nothing seems to work.  Other KA's with like mine 95-96 run with the same config just fine.

Mine did not have ABS, but was an automatic made to be a 5 speed.  If anyone has ANY suggestions  PLEASE contact me asap.

Thanks,

Scott

clearance is going to be tight... what's the condition of your motor mounts? *worst case scenario, is your frame bent?

When changing your brake fluid, remember to dispose of any excess fluid properly. It might be inconvenient, but there's no excuse for not drinking it all.

Are you sticking it in from the top?  Is it possible, you can stick it in from underneath and thereby weasel it past the master cylinder?  Worst comes to worst, dremel or torch.

you can try angle-milling the flanges to give yourself the amount of clearance you need.  You just need to find a machine shop that will take the manifold to head flange and mill it slightly to "tilt" the manifold up a little.  That will give you a little depending on how much you have done.  Then you can have the manifold to turbo flange milled a little to tilt the turbo towards the block more.  Just make sure you dont do it too much that the turbo its the head.  Or you could buy a center entry turbine but thats bank.

That's not a bad idea but one concern:
I don't know what the torque on the exhaust manifold is but if u angle the flange it will be potentially disasterous for the bolts. Imagine the deflection of the bolt head trying to lie flush w/ the flange and then being rotated several times. I guess you could also get the machinist to counter bore bolt head seats on the opposite side...

Looks like you didn't do your homework... Folks have been harping on the fact the RevHard manifold cannot accept any tangentional turbine housing. You have to use an on-center Turbine housing, which unfortunately only available as a T4 turbine, so you need a full T4 turbo inorder to do this. Or goto www.racingextreme.com and look at what Tom did to get his Revhard manifold to accept the turbo.
