| Premium Member ![]() | tire stretching and autoXing My new car might be 5 lug. I am already looking into new grip tires. I am VERY pleased with the rt615s. I am reading around that the widest 615 is a 215/45/16. I will be using a set of Starion wheels for autoX *16x7 front 16x9 rear* I really dont fully understand tire stretching. I mostly know people do it for clearance. Will I suffer any performance loss when grip driving on a stretched tire.

| we dont dance anymore ![]() | well, yeah, since you could be running wider tires, which in turn gives more lateral grip. A correct width tire, with the correct PSI for the type of driving you plan to do will handle better than a stretched tire. I dont believe the sidewall stiffness difference is THAT drastic. but hey, i could be wrong. (mild MILD stretch here)

| Premium Member ![]() | Im only asking because I REALLY dont want to switch tires. The 615s feel the best for my clubs events. I could run Advan A048s in 225 trim. Even then I think that might be too narrow.

| we dont dance anymore ![]() | well....dont stretch tires, then. i'd be more worried about the 2 inch stagger promoting understeer. why not get 7's all around if you want to stay with the 215?
