Post SD - My Rant Tread

So I just wanted to rant and rave about something and felt this would be a good place to do it. So Monday I drop my car off at a body shop here in San Diego, not going to name it at this time but I feel it was a pretty shitty deal.

Ok so I bought a Origin Streamline kit for my S14. The front fit perfect but the sides and the rear not so much. The rear was bowed out and the sides were too short. So I took it into the shop and told them that I wanted it fitted and installed. They said ok, and they let me know that they would call me if they needed to do any major cutting or fiberglass work. So today at about 4 I call them to see how its going, they say its ready to go. So I was like awesome maybe its done. I get there and it look good, till I get close. The right side skirt fits awesome, except for the fact that the corners are all cracked ok ok nothin major. Same with the rear sides. Then he says oh the door is a little hard to shut, WTF the shit has to be Slammed! The side isnt even lined up and causes my door to not shut. OMG so now thinking thats it, he tells me oh the right rear has 3 stripped studs and the lugs are too. . WTF I just bought brand new 5Zigen open lugs and Ichiba Spacers and they stripped 3 of them. I just feel like it isnt right and all they said is they recommend I change my studs and lugs now lol. .

^this...

I'd def. post pics and the name of the shop that effed your car. I obviously don't live in the area, but it would be good to warn local enthusiasts of such a shite business with whack ass business practices.

Yeah either did I, at first I thought it was just a misunderstanding till it started to seem more and more to them like it was nothing that my door doesnt close and fuckin 3 of 5 studs on one wheel are stripped. I talk to a few people who have had Ichiba spacers and said they take off their wheels and put them back on all the time and they never striped out. . and the first time mine come off they strip? WTF

Joey was the one who kept tellin me over and over how many studs he has stirpped in his time. . I dont give a f^&k, mine are not his maybe he just doesnt know how to take off lugs and put them on right. I paid $300 to get my car back with the body kit on in worse condition and three stripped lugs and studs. If your friends with him sorry but im not very pleased with the work. . Now I have to go find someone to finish the body work and now I have to order new studs and a whole new set of lugs since they dont sell them individually. Anyone have 4 lugs and ill sell the left overs of these?

Damn...sucks bro. I went to high school with Joey and we know a lot of the same people but I'd never let him work or touch my cars...lol! Studs should only be like $7-$10 each and thats from the dealer. As for the 5Zigen lug nuts...I can order some for you. They're the forged lugs right? So you paid $300 for paint and kit install? Thats cheap but sorry to say...you get what you pay for. I paid $1100 to get my vertex kit painted (fenders, front & rear bumper, and side skirts) with no install...cause Vertex fitment is the shit!!! I had Origin on my AE86 and moved on to Vertex cause Origin fitment is kinda shitty. Anyhow, let me kow what I can do to help. I'll see if I can get you good prices on the 5Zigen lugs. I might even be able to order you the studs. Let me know.

body shops are the worst to deal with...

i'm not hating, just asking,.. did you do any research about the shop or other shops in your area before you dropped off the car for work to be done?

this is why some day when I have the time and patience, I want to learn how to do my own body work so I never have to deal with any shitty body shops ever again.

Yeah I did, someone had a thread about SD body shops. . And I look into all of them and that one had a lot of nice work and a good rep. . Then the day after I picked it up from the shop I saw on the same thread people saying a bunch of bad stuff about them lol

Shit...if that was the case...I could have installed that shit for you for like $100...or less. I installed my own Origin kit on my AE86, my new Vertex kit that replaced the shitty Origin kit, and installed my Vertex kit on my S13. I thought you were getting it painted. $300 to install a kit? Sheesh...that shit is easy. Now you gotta deal with bullshit and extra costs because a shop fucked up. I feel for you man...

Thats exactly what I did...Jocson's autobody did the paint and body work on my 240sx. I did all the install of the kit and brand new moldings at home. This was the end result:

This is how it looks today with new wheels...

You should definitely try to star working on your car yourself. Especially installing a kit. That is waaaay easy. Good luck on getting this resolved. I'm sending you a PM on the 5Zigen lugs bro. I can have them here in San Diego by this coming Thursday if you pay and order by Monday.

Is it actually shorter than the passenger side? has your car ever been hit? Yeah...give me a call and we'll try to set something up. I think the same thing happened to my Origin kit for my ae86.
