| Leaky Injector | Possibly Moving...Canada to SoCal I'm entertaining the ability of moving somewhere in Southern California. I have a possible job opportunity out in Southern Cali as a career that will set me all over, so living location really isn't TOO much of an issue as I'll be traveling anyways, and not be situated at home a lot, just looking to "have a home". I'd be looking to rent (for now) and just curious as to what's around. I'm completely unfamiliar with the area's and considering currently in Canada I'm well oriented in the car scene I'd like to continue that out there, hence my post on Zilvia. So I guess what I'm looking for is some good/decent area's of living with affordable rent costs. Essentially I'd be looking for an apartment as I don't really need to work on a car until I settle in. I defiantly won't be bringing my 180 over...I'll just sell it. A friend of mine just actually bought a place out in Long Beach, but he's defiantly classified in a higher money bracket than I'll ever be looking to venture into, so his state of mind isn't my money margin lol. So, that's basically it. Where's a good place to consider? Thanks, Mike

| I guess the better question is where in socal will this career be? Commute times are a big deal down here. As for rent costs, just depends on what "areas" of the city you're looking into. Long beach for example has some really nice expensive areas as some not so nice cheap areas. | |

| Leaky Injector | Well mainly I was thinking Long Beach as I know I'll be situated in different area's around there for work, however I'll still be heading out of town regularly. I guess for location It's more for where I'd like instead of work related really? Is there better budget type availability in LB?

| Leaky Injector | Dalaz - Saw that and should be able to produce I'll update you as per my schedule. Will be in a couple months however.Dillusion - For starters I guess I'm looking to spend around $500 - $800 a month for a single room place. Plus utilities. I'll check out the craigslist ads. Is there anywhere specific I should be straying away from per say? Like "shittyer" area's or someone common for a lot of Zilvians possibly.

| In time-out for misbehaving. | Depends on your budget and where your work place my be. Traffic here is a big deal, especially during rush hour on the weekdays. Based on what I know, the closer you live to the coast (West), the higher the living expenses will be. If you're on a low budget and wan't a decent apartment, you can consider looking into Riverside and Corona. |

If your looking into the Long Beach or in and around you could consider Torrance, or some parts of San Pedro but San Pedro is like Long Beach some area's are nice others are sketchy as hell. The other thing to consider would be rolling up the 91 a bit to Cerritos, its kinda of a quite middle class bedroom community. Otherwise I would tell you places in LA but I don't know if it would require you to commute. Plus not knowing how much you want to spend on rent makes it kinda hard.

| Zilvia Addict ![]() | drift freaq pretty much said it all.. if you dont mind polluted air and living where it gets upwards of 100 degrees in the summer, the Inland empire is a pretty affordable place to move... for what you pay for an apartment out in Long Beach and Pedro you can rent a small house out here. my family pays the same amount per month as my uncle i live in a 4 bedroom house with a pool/spa and pretty big garage out in riverside he has a tiny ass 3 bedroom with.. well basically nothing.he is in pedro. |

| $500 range you're renting a room somewhere. $800 you can afford an apartment in north lb, or paramount. Other than generalizing like that, you can come across some random deals in nice places. Side note, would I live in either of those? Sure, depends on the neighborhood. Would I leave my 240 on the street? Hell No! But to that point, I wouldn't leave my 240 on too many streets anyways. Just food for thought. | |

| Leaky Injector | Damn, you guys are super helpful! lol Yea for a start I was looking at the $800 range. I'm not picky when it comes to weather, especially considering here in Toronto we have 2 seasons....Winter and Construction. Area wise...I grew up in the roughest area's of Toronto, places they make movies of, so I'm not to worried about how ghetto the surroundings may be. I won't be picking up a 240 probably for a little bit until I settle in, and by that time I'm sure I'll become familiar with a lot of you guys on here. I network quickly. Again, thanks a lot guys. I'm going to be doing some more research over the next few months as per budget and location. I'll keep this updated as I'm sure you'll all be very helpful! Thanks, Mike

| Leaky Injector | Wow, I was just checking out some places out on the LA craigslist. What's with the foreclosure situation? I'm seeing HOUSES, nice ones to, go for like $900 a month at rent to own. I'm going to assume that because of the current economical situation it's putting a lot of families out of income causing the foreclosures? Thus not paying mortgages and other bills correct? Shit, now's defiantly I good time to buy! lol. As an update, I have a friend who I've lived with here who might actually be coming with me. This is perfect seeing as how that raises our budget for a nicer place and possibly a house.

What sucks so hard about LA? Also keep in mind, I'm in the Design business so I'll be looking to expand myself and company as much as possible. The more exposure the better but location can always change later really. ALSO. What are the good/bad area's of LA as far as crime goes.
