Need A Hook Up On Some Body Work**UPDATED WITH RECENT PICS**

So I'm saving up money to do a motor swap from a ka to a sr and so i decide to take some of that money and fix up my body damage on my car. I went to a local body shop and got quoted $400 for the hit and $200 to alien the trunk back up so this is what the damage looks like.

I'll take some more pics of the outside and inside and trunk when i get home. I would really like someone local maybe in the 714 area aka Santa Ana/Orange County.

Also note these pics were taken when i first got the car. I had a friend work on the body so the damage doesn't look as bad will post the more recent pics in a few hours.

**UPDATE**

Here's the damage as of now

NOTICE HOW THE TRUNK DOESN'T SEAT RIGHT

holy shit 400 aint to bad or price to get a hit that hard. If i live in socal i would help you out. Was that qoute paint, labor and everything? whats their rate? I doubt it would take along time to align the trunk if theirs no structral damage. gl with getting it fixed.

Yea..as I mentioned..thats still not a bad price.

They have to heat it up and put it on the rack to pull the trunk back to it's original position.

I got a qoute on my s13 and s14 years back.

13 was gonna cost me $1400
14 was gonna cost me $1650ish.

(this is at a GOOD WORK body shop)for work on rear bumper, and QP work.

Does your qoute include prep and paint?

seriously $600 for everything isn't bad at all considering the work involved. get other quotes just to compare. you could always give it a try yourself by renting out a stud gun and a sliding hammer.

Yeah $600 isn't bad but that price was to get the hit popped out and bondo without any paint. I really don't want a lot of bondo on my car. I mean there isn't and frame damage just the body but i have go to different shops and they quoted me around the same price.

Na we tryed the hammer didn't help much at all. We need a frame pulller

aww man i have acess to a frame rack and badass chief system frame puller. Thing cost like 30k. I could set up ur car on the rack and do all the pulling and measurements for u. You can use an easy out or something to get most of it but you have to make sure how to relieve the metal and where to hit the trunk so it alignswell. yeah, you need to find a good shop that doesnt use a whole of body filler. trust me, i once worked on a scout that needed to be pulled and have the door frame aligned and as soon it started to come back to shape the qp fell apart. It was full body filler. Chunks flew off. It was funny though. Now theres cracks all over the place but the owner just wanted to pull the frame so the door would shut.

is there any buckling in the quarter panel or creases around the window frame?? You probley dont need a frame rack to pull it. Just a slide hammer, some clamps attachments, a chaine, a hammer to relieve the metal in areas as you pull. That should be it. A stud welder is useless for this since its so big that u would need a big ass strong pin to pull it out. A small tow dolly or heel dolly would help around the concave areas near your tail lights and such.

Damn homie, thats alot of body work. Quarter panel damage is probably the hardest to fix since the metal is stronger where the tail lights meet it. If i were you, pull it out, primer it to prevent rust and overfenders!

Yeah that's what I'm planning on doing. The guy who sold it to me told me to not even worry to just go wide body but i don't think the wide body would fit right with that hit.

no on widebody.... fix it then widebody. depending on the damage it wont fit right or the new panels are going to fall off or crack(if fiber glass) later on. You might as well cut the qp pane completly off if ur going to do that....

Aha.

then I would take that bumper off and have a look with it off. Make sure the bumper support didnt get pushed around. And that trunk is wierd, hard to tell from pics what happend. whats the gap on the other side look like?? did the trunk get rotated clockwise?? Is the hinge whats bent so funky??

Theres a real ghetto shop in El Monte me and alot of the 626 guys used. Just incase your spot changes thier mind

BTW, Im lookin for a daily too. I noticed that people are charging the same amount for S13 coupes as stock S14's. That shit makes no sense. So Imma probably save for a S14, drop it on rims and daily it. Screw 3K for a S13 lol!!!

The other side looks perfect like it should be i think its the hinges got warped or something. Yeah when i took it to the shop the guy said the bumper is garbage now the supports are warped too. I'm gonna take it to him again and see what he says now

Alright man El Monte isn't a far drive for me i got family out there so ill keep your suggestion in mind. I just don't wanna take it somewhere were there going to just pack on the bondo

I know i was thinking that too getting a s14 for the track but i much rather get a hatch i like the look of them. Or maybe ill get lucky and find another coupe for 1k like this one lol

ooo man. I can tell where u got hit and how. You got clipped huh? the reason the trunk isnt aligned anymore is becuase a: the damage spreaded upward cuasing a bulge at the corner or b: the bumper support moved something structrual to the unibody shifting the trunk upwards. My other guess it looks the who hit you.. hit u at an odd angle they must have been driving something that was lower than ur car. i would take the trunk off also and the rear support bar. get a new one and try it on and make references by measuring how far the mounting bolts are.
measure the distance between ur trunk mounting spots on the good side up and down and compare it to the damaged side like this ll. then after that measure it from the driver side to passenger side on the mounting bolts like this =. If You wanna take even more measure ments then do it cross ways like this X. this should help you determin how far you are off and should make aligned way simpler. You can do een more damage by beating the metal past it strecthcable limitby beating it out. You kinda made it harder to fix since u put alot of ripple dents and bulges all over the place. I'm 100% sure they are going to qoute a hella lot more next time you go to get another estimate. You just created alot more work for them to do. beofore it was just some simple pulling with a slide hammer/chain/frame clamps and a hammer to relieve the metal as you pull. Now you got alot of bump work, pulling and maybe some metal shrinking to get it back to place. Damn if i live close to id help you out for free.
