C33 Laurel imposter MX83 with VG30 swap, only $6500!
Simply put, I made this...thing to be a rad car to rip around the streets in the lap of luxury, and a pure wtf style.
The base car is a 1989 Cressida Luxury, with 95k miles. ENGINE: I pulled the drivetrain from an '86 300zx and rebuilt it to the following specs. -All New gaskets and seals, water pump, T-stat, Timing belt & tensioner -Powdercoated valve covers, front cover by CM Werks sparkly green -New Holset HX35 12cm twin scroll turbo -One off custom LONG TUBE HEADERS into the twin scroll, with a 38mm wg divided up to the port -Some Ebay FMIC that works well, doubles as hood latch -ARP stainless exhaust mani stud kit for LS1 -Volvo 2spd radiator fan -PS pump modded to work with headers -Huge PS oil cooler -Engine oil cooler in turbo feed -Uses Cressida alternator, no power issues -Morgan cam sprockets -Schneider Cams, 440/420, 270/262 -Crane HI6R ignition box and coil -Microtech LT-10S standalone ECU -RB20DET 550cc top feeds -Arias forged 9.1:1 pistons for Z32TT (@ 8.7:1 on this engine) -Z32 rods -ARP rod bolts -Some light porting, match-porting, and smoothing throughout -Gloria front sump oil pan -NGK plug wires -Caterpillar 7" Oil filter -K&N cone air filter and crankcase filter -Z32 fuel filter -Maxima plenum with shaved EGR port, and fast idle device -Reversed fuel rail -Stanza KA throttle with TPS -Custom 3" exhaust with RS-R Exmag muffler This engine did this at 15psi with spark blow out (gap too big), old t3/t4, and old headers. Who knows what it's putting out now at 21psi. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psf7c8caca.jpg DRIVETRAIN: -71C trans, S13 version with better shift forks, Redline MT-90 inside so it actually shifts -Ebay short shifter (might also have brass shift bushing) -Fidanza aluminum flywheel -Z33 pressure plate with DXD Stage 3 disc -MarkIII Supra turbo diff carrier -MarkIII Supra NA 4.3 gear set -Supra turbo LSD, shimmed, and additional magic to improve lockup -Custom one piece driveshaft -MarkIII Supra clutch pedal and MC INTERIOR: -Cloth brown/tan interior in very nice condition -Grip Royal wood steering wheel -Some Alpine deck with iPod/phone control -All speakers replaced -Trunk mounted battery -Boost, oil temp, coolant temp gauges -Innovate wideband gauge -Custom TFWorks shift knob -Crown Royal shift boot BODY: -Front clip converted to Nissan C33 Laurel Medalist -Custom hood vent -Origin S13 coupe wing -Driving Sports JZX81 body kit modified to fit shorter Cressida body (This is the only example in the country I know of) -Rear quarters cut out, sealed, and extended 30mm with metal -Galant turn signals -Fresh BASF two-stage BMW Olive/gold pearl paint (this color is mesmerizing in person) -Cosmis MRII wheels 18x9.5 +15 with new 225/40/18, Muteki lugs -Stance 12k/11k coilovers Bring your friends along to enjoy long-runner exhaust notes, and hilarious power motoring lux. Turns LOTS of heads, gets complements from old people and police. Everyone thinks it's a Galant VR4. Use this at your discretion to laugh or argue with people. I don't need to sell this car, but I certainly don't have to keep it, and would like to pay down some debt. So why is it priced the same as a chewed up S14 that someone thinks is "mint" because the frame rails haven't rusted yet? The engine ingested a small nut awhile back. It still runs strong, and doesn't burn oil. However, there is a light knock that I would say is piston slap, and some blow by vapor that I would describe as "concerning". I have been driving it around for awhile like this. I would bet it could handle at least another 10k miles of beatings without issue. The biggest problem is my honesty scares the shit out of people. Only 1 guy has looked at the car to date, with 100's saying "Wow, what a good deal!" These engines are in every junkyard for super cheap. You wouldn't even need to build one. They handle 450+hp stock just fine. A VG33 from a Pathfinder or minivan would even be an upgrade, and they are incredibly easy to work on. Again, this is a worst case scenario if it blows up, which I think is unlikely. Even if you swap to a JZ whatever, this car is a bargain. Parting the engine stuffs might even pay for the swap, and a lot of work is already done for you. $6500

with the work and parts and how cool it is, you could honestly get a few thousand alone for the shell... the fact its a running and driving car thats setup is even cooler. a few hundred dollars at the junkyard and a few days of labor and you'd be set. that front end is way sweet

A guy came to look at it to turn into a full gutted drift car to turn into chewed hamburger with friends.
Said it was "Too nice." and just couldn't bare to do it. Kinda funny, but I could use the space now for my Subaru 360.

So it's a 89 toyota with a 86 nissan v6 swap, a s13 KA trans, and a MKIII supra rear end. Not to mention LS1 studs, Volvo fans, Maxima intake plenum, Stanza/Sentra throttle body, stock(!) Toyota alternator, etc... Oh, and the turn signals are off a Mitsubishi and you painted it a BMW color.
Did you just have like a bunch of car parts built up over the years you needed to use or what? Jokes, aside, looks awesome as fuck. Props for building something so crazy. |

Quote:
MkIII rear end: This is a common swap for Cressidas. The OE gearing is terrible. LS1 studs: Ex manifold hardware is a weak point on early VG's. Stainless ARP hardware is a direct fit. Volvo fan: I'm a big "fan" of junkyard fans because I hate mech fans, and the aftermarket has repeatedly left me with smoking, expensive, garbage. This is a slim unit with 3000 cfm, and it's own speed control relay. It's a pretty popular swap on other cars too. Maxima plenum: This is the forward facing intake on the VG. It improves packaging and serviceability. The whole top of the engine with all fuel and wiring comes off in 10 minutes, and I could probably have the whole long block out in an hour. Stanza throttle: For some dumb reason, Nissan gave the VG a restrictive throttle that makes it really dull. The KA-E throttles are a direct swap, add 10hp, and really wake up the response. The Stanza version with cruise control has a proportional TPS sensor that also integrates perfectly with the standalone. So no, I didn't just toss together a bunch of stuff laying around. It's all been carefully selected.
