Using Water Temp Gauge as Oil Temp

Hey Guys,

I had an extra water temp gauge laying around that reads from 100F to 250F...

Do you think I can use it as an oil temp gauge?

You did not say what manufacturer or what kind of design. Mechanical or electronic sender?

The only thing I can say is call the manufacturer and ask them.

Woops sorry, its an autometer... Its a eletronic sender. Thanks!

**EDIT: Oh wellz its probably fine to use if it is electronic. Now I am wonder where the best place is to measure oil temperature... I was thinking where the stock oil pressure sensor is the best place, as the pan might be too cool.... Anyone?***

Send a message via AIM to DALAZ_68 Send a message via Yahoo to DALAZ_68
if its autometer id say it should work, most lower model gauges use the same temp sensor for both water and oil, like they use same press sensor for fuel and oil...I.E. STRi

sometimes even on the instructions itll say "for oil and water temp gauge use" on it...

though calling the manufacturer would be ideal.

Oil temp is not as crucial as water temp and oil pressure.

Put it wherever convenient for you.
