s13 s13 gauge cluster not working

ok here is the thing i pulled my gauge cluster out the other day to replace the plastic cover when i put everything back together and started the car the tach does not work the gas gauge went above full and the coolant temp does not read. all of this stuff was working before i pulled it out. i did notice that when i put the headlights on the gauge cluster flashes on and off. i checked all the fuses and all relays i think. i also put another gauge cluster in the car and it still does the same thing. i have even tried pulling the connectors out of the gauge cluster part way to see if that helped but it didnt. i really need someone to tell me what to check next

thanks

did you take the battery out of the car before you pulled the cluster? You may have tripped the ECU. I dont have much experience with these cars, I am just throwing out the idea.

If it worked before I'd pull it back over and recheck everything. I know you said you did already but you might have missed something.

Recheck wiring. Check grounds. Check fuses. Check all connections and relays.

dude i did the exact same thing 2 days ago...took out the cluster and when it went back in, nothing worked, including my AC blower among other things. Mine was a fuse, so i'd check all your 10a and 15a fuses under there WITH A TEST LIGHT! make sure you get continuity on both sides....just cuz the fuse is good doesnt mean you didnt fry a wire....good luck man

Were you able to fix the problem? Cuz I have the same exact problem. It was caused by a short. My driver side tire rubbed the fender well and got through the wiring harness and the wires fused together. I then replaced all the broken fuses, fixed the wiring, and still my cluster wouldn't work... Fuel, Tach and Speedo gauges won't work. What to do...

Anyone? I need help to fix my Fuel, Speedo, and Tach gauges. I'll go and take it apart tomorrow and take a look at the Cluster itself.

Mine was working fine before I went to drift the car and then all the sudden everything died. Lights still work and fuel gauge still works. The rest like the little lights that pop up before ignition don't come on anymore. Idk what it is I checked my ecu wiring, I checked the fuses, and I'm about to pull the dash. I've also already replaced the gauge cluster and it still persists on not working. WTF is this shit.

do this first.

And also check the 75a alinator fuse and the wiring that is under it.

There was a service bulletin Nissan sent out in '97 on the wires going to the Alt fuse. They tend to oxide easily and break off. not to mention there is a metal clip that ties 2 wires to one side of the fuse. Mine had somewhat of the same problem come to realize the wires had broke off under the fusebox with a clean cut (go figure)

hope this helps

Check and recheck your fuses! When mine first went out I did this with a multimeter and they all had continuity. I tried it again the other day for the hell of it and found out the "meter" fuse was blown and as soon as I replaced that my cluster started to work again. Check em with the multimeter and pull em too just to double check everything.

Problem Solved

Same problem here with a 1995 240 sx. The issue is the FL100 A breaker that is located under the hood, passengers side, in the fuse box. Once that pops, the headlights will continue to work, but the gauges, power windows, brake, tail, signal and hazard lights, as well as the BEEP when you open the door with key in ignition, all stop working. I put some tin foil in temporarily until I can locate one of these.
