interest in abflug style s13 headlights?

Want to gauge interest in this. I am considering making some for myself. Thinking probably carbon insides with lexan formed lenses. If there's enough interest I may organize a group buy to get the cost of my tooling recouped and to reduce the cost for those in the group buy and any future buyers. I would hope to include plug and play harnesses as well. From what I've seen of the abflug headlights I can easily improve upon the quality looks and cost.

Right now I don't need to hear about cost questions, just if people like them enough to buy them. I would figure out how to get cost down to a reasonable amount. Not looking to make money off this just pay for tooling to make them look nicer. If I can't build them cheap enough I won't produce them.

This is essentially the abflug headlights.

Personally I feel the 300z headlights look worse than these. This is just the nicest flush style 180sx pop up replacement I've seen. These were pretty popular a number of years ago and hard to get in the US

Also I should mention. There appears to be two versions. Ones with a filler eyelid piece and one without. Not sure if I would offer both or one...I'll post the different pics later if I can find them.

That's not really how proper low run production works. I can show pre production prototype stuff but I'm not going to cut a mold on the cnc before I know if I can recoup cost. Not to mention lexan is best bought in quantity as is any material like carbon.

The more people that buy into the initial buy, I'll continually reduce cost of the final part since I'm just looking to pay for materials and tooling. I will even be putting in my share, the buy doesn't pay for my set. The buy will be cost price. No profit for me. This just means it helps me afford to make myself (and others) high quality headlights, not some bent sheetmetal bullshit.

understood

From being in the aftermarket since 07 I've noticed having a actually product always help!

Either way good luck!

Also recommend looking into using the Xenon headlight would bring a modern output to them making them more function than just form.

Real deal in good condition for $450ish shipped. Stupid cheap deal, and they hardly ever pop up for sale.

Guys you really don't understand how low production works. I have to prototype the product first before I'll be able to estimate tooling and materials cost. I can say id like to keep them under 500 a set but I'm basing that on nothing. Not like I'm having these made in China, I'm having to build these 100% myself by hand with a mold (that I have to make) and vacuum former which I'll again have to make a buck to mold the lens over.

These really are the nicest flush pop up replacement that ive seen out that doesnt look horrible, they arent for everyone but for those looking to switch, only other decent option that ive seen is supermade but i dont like the open style. If they are good quality as in fitment and materials then i dont see why you wouldnt get at least what supermade is asking for theirs

Why not tool them to accept light modules, so you dont have to provide the lighting.. you would only provide the lense and bracket, and anyone can put in projectors / FF reflectors / foglights whatever in them.

keep your costs down..

I've made a vacuum forming box, and vacuum formed some lexan around a oem flip-up lip and made clear lenses...

its pretty easy to do, but definitely time consuming.

Id love for someone to make these...

they bolt on to the front of the headlight bucket, and you insert whatever hella 90mm modules you want in there..

You must have forgotten what community this is. 500 bucks buys most people here a "whole nother car maing"

Thanks for the helpful feedback. I won't sell them unless they fit perfect and the finish is perfect. I went to school for car design and currently work at a prototyping company that does machining rapid prototyping and composites. We've done fixtures for production headlights for Honda and other companies. So if I have a question, I can find a solution though I'm already pretty sure how I want to build them.

Honestly I'm not sure. I could potentially do both since it's just a trim and mount operation before it gets sent out anyway. I like the circular if they are large enough but the square fits well with the design language of the car and time period.

I'll probably offer square and circular as well as eye lid and non eyelid lenses like above.

Ya there are a lot of broke dicks here but there are still people who spend money on them and may like them. 500 was merely my ceiling of I wont make them if they exceed that. I'd really prefer to see a lower cost than that. Again it's hand made shit not from China.

I can still make them and post but like I've been saying to make them first I have to do the tooling regardless of whether I make more for others. If people are interested it means I may be able to get it done faster and cheaper and more likely I'll go forward with it.

Make them yourself! That's what I did as I have the CAD file for that bracket. It's quite a bit of work but when properly fitted with HID Hella units works pretty well. It's more than just the bracket that's needed to make it work properly though...
