so on my 350z anniversary wheels, I am thinking of going with a 235/35 on the 18x8 and a 245/35 for the 18x8.5, how does that sound for fitment guys ? I am just going for a square side wall setup,
thanks, -Mike |

I have those anniversary wheels, but two sets of the rears so its 18x8.5 all around. 235/40 is pretty square on them, but 245/40 works for sure as well.

I know this is "max tire" thread, but I've been wanting to get rid of my 255/35/18 BridgeStone RE760's up front for 235/40/18 Nankang NS-2R's. I love the square look of the 255's but I am afraid they might mess up my fenders down the road, if I hit a bump mid turn or dive into corner too fast they will rub/hit the fender.
with that being said, has anyone used the new Nankang NS-2R's? I am ready to run some 240 compound tires up front so I think I can sacrifice tire width for better tire compound for same if not better traction up front. (my other options are Falken 615k's or Toyo R888's)

There's usually 1/2" or so there at the lip unaccounted for - but if you break out the tape measure, a 10" wide wheel is actually 11" wide. So 275's on a 10" wheel is where I start. I'm running 285's on 10" wide wheels up front and they're not ballooned at all. A bit undersquare even. I got a really good deal on some 295's recently. Will you guys kick me out if I mount them on 18x12's?

So 300's would be square on an 11j if 275's are square on a 10. And I've never seen a 300 so I guess that leaves us with 305's lol. I'll probably end up going 265/295 and have just a tiny bit under square.

What are you guys with S13's doing that are running 7+deg of caster up front and big tires?
This is getting awfully close to the fender and bumper...

No offense man, but your setup doesn't belong here... See the tire stretched thread.

I'm running 335/30/18 on 18x12 rears. The 295's are for my 10J set.

Excellent thread everyone! I was hoping to get some opinions on wheel offset and max tire size for my 98 240SX - completely stock but upgrading to coilovers and appropriate suspension parts for 2JZ swap. The car will be daily driven and will mainly be raced on the highway and 1/4 mile once the swap is completed.
Wants: 18" setup, minimal to almost no camber (not my cup of tea), NO stretching of tires, will pull/roll the rear fenders Wheels I will be buying: CCW D110 or Work Meister S1 3P -18x9 / 18x10 OR 18x9.5 / 18x10.5 CCW wheels can be ordered with custom offsets but I do not even know where to begin as the car will be getting all upgrades at once (300ZX or larger brakes, coilovers, pull/roll of fenders, wheels). Please feel free to PM me if you'd like - appreciate the help fellas!

I'd say there is plenty of information in this thread alone for you to make an educated decision on the width and offset required to attain your goals.

I finally got around to rolling my S14 front fenders for the 255/35/R18 BFG Sport Comp 2 I'll be running up front, and I had an observation.
I took my time, heat gun and IR temp gun to keep the fender around 140F, and worked it in small increments with a knock off Eastwood fender roller. The roll was easy, it took about 1/2 hour of actual roll time per side since I did it in small increments. No paint cracking, and the edge is nice and even and smooth. On to my observation. I initially knew I'd need a roll and a small pull to fit the 255s. Wheel specs for front are 18x9J +22 offset. I set out to only roll the lip under, but I am convinced there is no way to accomplish this without at least a small pull in the process. The reason being that once you get the lip past about 45 degrees you have to change the angle of the fender roller to force the lip as flat as possible to the inside of the fender. In doing this you end up stretching the fender outward as you roll the lip further. By my eyeball estimate I think I got about a 1/4"-3/8" (6mm-10mm) pull by the end of it. This should be about perfect. I don't have the car on the ground yet, as I still need to roll the rears for the 275/35/R18 I'll be running on the 18x10J +27 rims. The reason I know I got a small pull is when sighting along the fender arch from the front of the car I can see the pull where the fender meets the front bumper. Instead of transitioning smoothly into the fender, the fender has a little bit of a jog outward. It is very subtle, and had I not compared the first side to the unrolled second side I would have never even noticed it. I think it is worth noting that when people say they fit X size tires with a roll only that there is always going to be a small pull involved, and depending on the aggressiveness of the person rolling, I can see even up to 1/2" (12-13mm) of pull may have been accomplished without them thinking they had pulled the fender at all. For reference, the lip on my fenders is definitely not squished to the inside of the fender. There is a slight gap, maybe 1/8" (3mm) or so, and had I continued rolling until it made contact I probably would have ended up with at least 1/2" (12-13mm) of pull. Just something to think about when people talk about the tire sizes they are running and the fender mods they have to fit them. TL/DR: When rolling fenders with a roller, there will always be a pull involved, and may be more than you think if you are aggressive about the roll. |

8j - 9" tire will be close to square <- 235 is best 9j - 10" tire <- 255 is best 10j - 11" tire <- 275 is slightly under, 285 is slightly over I can attest to this as I currently have a 10j rear with a 275 width tire, and it is very slightly under square. Not much, but you can see the difference. |

In my opinion, for a square, non stretched look, I think 245 is is better than 235 on a 9 inch wide rim. This is coming from my personal and most current experience.
