Honestly he should have been booted from the event right then and there along with their whole tech team. Let the kid come back for a later event and go over his car with a fine tooth comb, if it fails anything he isn't allowed back ever. But the tech team should be sidelined for good. Had this been somewhere with higher speeds that battery could have killed someone.

Tech team is there to measure ride height, wheel fitment and panel gap. They are also inspecting for knock off wheels, aero and eBay parts. |

These pictures were taken AFTER the incident. That's when the car was being worked on in the pits so it could move again. Those wheels are missing lugs because he had to borrow lugs from his other wheels to put on the wheel that came off.
He has already admitted on FB that he didn't tighten the lug nuts. |

Dude with the yellow car went straight from Lego bricks to building a full size Lego car. No wonder it fell apart.

Let's just say that the tech team did do their job properly. At any event I have ever been to you have tech completed at the beginning of the event. After that no one ever checks your car...ever. There isn't some sort of tech sniper on the line or in a tower with binoculars watching to make sure that every car that pulls up for a run has tightened lug nuts and a battery tie down. It is the driver's responsibility after tech to keep their vehicles in tech worthy conditions. I think a lot more people would probably care if he hadn't been such a shit talker prior to the incident and a complete bitch afterward. He threw a fucking fit like a baby; screw that guy. You can tell by his reactions that he's a dick on and off the track; always thinks his shit doesn't stink. THAT is why people are attacking him.

I didn't even notice he was wearing sandals. Tech rules clearly state that all drivers are required to wear crocs for protection.

Let's be real. There is not tech for Final Bout and Tech for most events is nothing but a CYA bullshit pass through for event organizers.
But with that said, isn't that what we want? That way we don't have to wear stupid fire suits and crap? People cry about being restricted and wanting to embrace personal responsibility.... But then cry when the Nannie isn't around to enforce rules and restrictions. |

I for one am fine with tech being complete. Publish a set of guidelines in advance of the event and let people get their cars up to that standard. It's one thing for this kids battery to flop out at these slower speeds, but had this been a high speed track it could have been a lot worse.

Generally yes, but I don't include myself in this group. My car won't be taken to the track again until it is finished properly and safely. It's been about 5 years since the last time I put my vehicle on the track, what's a couple more right? This logic does not apply to most people, though, and yes tech is bullshit for the most part. If he passed without his battery tied down then that's absolute bullshit. Unfortunately people are stupid and will do whatever they want even if it's in blatant disregard to the safety of others. I hope he isn't allowed at any future events and that the organizers of Final Bout take note of this incident and improve upon it. But.......since it already happened, why not buy shirts? If that happened to me I would have just reclined my seat, dropped my helmet visor, and gone to sleep in the car.
That whole run was about to suck anyway. |

shit, flip flops?! what a joke man. if its on the track it needs a real tech inspection. any real event has it, its not only for driver safety, but the drivers and fans around you. man up, put on some safety gear and inspect the cars for bullshit like that battery. cry about tech, lol... its required in every other legit form of motorsport, and you do it or you don't run. no one cries.

He had no battery tie down and went through tech. No question in my mind....
HOW many people fuck with their battery at events? It's a battery, it's stays bolted in. Dead battery? Jump it. Doesn't require removal. What, did he run through tech and have to pull an emergency battery swap and forgot to put the tie down back on? Kid never had one to begin with. Tech inspection was probably exactly stated as above. "What are the specs on these?" "What wing is that" "Cool just sign here man, siq car"
