1998 Porsche Boxster $5,500

1998 Porsche Boxster

cylinders: 6 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 122800
paint color: silver
title status: clean
transmission: manual
type: convertible

1998 Porsche Boxster

5spd Manual, Silver

Originally a Georgia Car.

Porsche Enthusiast and Mechanic owned. I have maintained a maintenance record book. Car has a clean title (in hand) and runs and drives great.

Car runs and drives great. Just replaced all the brake pads and wear sensors (Stop Tech), brand new tires put on this summer. Aftermarket clutch with lots of grip. Car also has a new convertible top.

Down sides (and reason for low pricing), the car is a not perfect cosmetically. No rust anywhere but it does have some dings and scratches. The new top also has some wrinkles and the interior is red (love it or hate it).

Mechanically Great, Cosmetically average. Check the pictures out and let me know

Trades: 99-04 Mustang, 98-02 4Runner, Montero, Montero Sport, Range Rover Classic, Land Rover Discovery 1, Land Cruiser

Partial Trades: 240sx LSD, SR Stand Alone, Cams, SR long block etc...

Had no idea these were so cheap... a modern era Porsche in good condition for $5500. Pretty tempting.

What the hell are you talking about?

80% of the car is a 996. In fact the entire front, dash forward is 100% 996.

Obviously you've never driven one of these.

It's cheap because it's winter and I'm being fair and direct on my price. I'm not some 50 year old yuppie that thinks his car is worth some stupid price.

Thanks dizzariot but I would of never of posted that pic lol

It's funny to me because I wasn't being disrespectful at all even ended with a compliment wishing you luck on your sale and stating regardless of what I said how great the price is.
I been, attended, and participated in plenty of Porsche events and even as a 996 owner felt some type of inferiority and felt bestride amongst the crowd. I used that as my own evidence to support my PERSONAL viewpoint and comment.
But of course no one can be civil on this forum and talk without warranting a billy badass response.

You are a 996 owner that posted a 986 is not a "Porsche".

That is actually worse than a Corvette owners saying a Camaro is not a "Chevy".

Sorry you got called out on your tomfoolery. No disrespect, but since the 986 came out in 1997, two years before the 996.... really you just own a Boxster with a roof and two extra seats.....

Wow...isn't that what I stated about owning my 996?
Ok buddy obviously you don't get what I'm trying to say...make sure you wear your Porsche hat, Porsche Jacket, and driving gloves next time you cruise up to the next Porsche meet.
I made no mention of the lack of the Boxsters exceptional handling and power just the fact of the perception of these and base 996s within the community
Don't worry I won't respond further I'm over this.

Free bump for you

And by the way...
Since this is owned by a Porsche Enthusiast and mechanic where is the mention of the IMS being repaired/replace on this vehicle. Granted the odds are less that 20% but the possibility is there. I would hate for a soon to be P-car owner ruin there first experience on a 2800lb in essence paper weight w nice interior.
This should be annotated whether in a dealership invoice or on the carfax.

Are you really that insecure that you are arguing with someone in a for sale thread on wether or not a Boxster is a "Porsche"?

I don't get it.

Also as for the IMS, you are just not going to find that many cars, especially under $9k or outside or race cars with the LNE IMS or the Pedro DOF system. The Pelican IMS is also a scam as it's just the crappy latest Revision OEM bearing.

My car is also a 1998, meaning it's a Dual-Row bearing and not as prone to failure as the later single row cars.

http://www.oregonpca.org/resources/i...he-full-story/

As far as paper weight potential. It's a 2.5L, Porsche sold +60,000. It's the most successful Porsche sports car by sales volume. A complete 2.5 engine is only $2,000 used.

Beyond that the Boxster uses a standard Audi/VW transmission- meaning all those VAG motors bolt to it... Including $500 junkyard 280hp 4.2 V8s.

Just fab some mounts, exhaust and wire...

Post this car up on the porsche forums. I think you will have better luck selling the car there then here at this forum where almost everyone is broke or too cheap.

Just trying to help a fellow Porsche owner.

This Porsche is priced at $5500. There are many 240s on here that cost more than this Porsche. People on zilvia are not broke, just cheap. There's a difference. smh...

Post Porsche on 240 forums for less than 240(s) that is twice its age and 100% more hoon'd. Well played sir. Well played. GLWS.
