1JZGTE Swap Maintenance?

what are the weak points of a 1jz, which parts are a must/worth to replace. Thanks!

Well I'm doing a 2jz vvti swap right now so not the same engine but pretty much everything still applys.

As the first poster stated the stock turbos suck from what I read. Hit or miss weather they are in good usable condition or not. Now would be a good time to go single turbo if you don't want to deal with unnecessary hassle later.

Second get some new valve cover gaskets as they are known to leak and flood the spark plug galley with oil, that's how mine came...There are various other gaskets/seals that you can change if you want to put in the effort/money.

3. Change spark plugs and oil

4. Get a new oem waterpump. New oil pump wouldn't hurt either but I hear its not really a problem on these motors.

5. New timing belt If the motor needs it. I also bought a new oem timing belt tensioner for mine as added insurance.

I'm sure theres more stuff but that's how far I've gotten on mine
