KA Blow Head Gasket

So the Head is off, and i was curious while its in the shop what people suggest i should be doing during this down time. Just some free/cheap ideas. shes just sittin there and i feel like some TLC would be necessary, although not too sure where to start.

1 2 3... GO!

fix any leaks, replace all vacuum lines, pressure wash your engine bay(assuming the engine is pulled), do a coolant flush...... look at your car and see what needs to be done then do it

Check the timing chain tensioners. If they are even somewhat worn out you might as well put new ones in. I am in the middle of doing a head gasket on my ka24de swap right now and bought a new timing assembly because I knew it was probably fucked. We removed the head and front cover to find one tensioner had failed almost completely and the lower chain ate through the front cover into the water pump chamber. Thankfully I have a spare motor lying around to pilfer parts off of.

Replace the coolant lines that run behind the head and all the lines that run under the intake manifold

Well i had actually purchased a Longblock so all the chains and tensioners were brand new. Ended up putting the head back on prior to looking at the forum again. now im having ridiculous idle/timing problems im trying to figure out. Which is becoming a huge pain.
Sadly i haft to DD the car for 2 weeks then drive to FtWorth and visit the shop i bought it from so they can time it to perfection. Although i will look into the things you all have mentioned TY.
