Are you able to jump start optima batteries like normal batteries?

I left the headlights on in my car.....

It's a battery, doesn't matter. Why would you think it was anything different from a regular fluid type battery?

I've done it before...never had a problem.

P.S. How long did you leave your lights on for?....I left my lights, AND my electric fan, on for over 3 hours accidently and my optima still started my car no problem.

It is not a dry cell. It is an absorbed glass mat battery. Still has acid, they just soak it into fiberglass.

Optima's usually don't die very easily...I'd check to see if something is putting a drain on your battery when your engine is off perhaps. If so, that, combined with the headlights staying on, is probably why it died.
