Hey Cody, so changing up my setup from HKS 264/264 Step 1 to 264/272 step 2's....

Do you think I should keep my stock intake manifold or throw a freddy on it..... Mainly track duty but like to drive on the canyon's once in awhile...

What do you think? i am still a little torn on this....

To me the plethora of advantages from the Greddy (and even the Freddy) are worth the swap alone. Better average power, better average torque, more top end ability, easier to change the oil filter, easier to work on the car etc etc. There isn't anything IMO that is a positive over the Greddy aside from the super low rpm/out of spool area that I could care less about. Heck when I daily my car, I hardly ever take it above 3k in town...that's how I get good fuel mileage
^ i think he already answered your question. probably on more than just that one occasion.

Sure, but with those cam profiles coupled with the manifold. I just wonder if it is worth it... I guess it still is.... I just hate lag above 4000 rpm.....

maybe you guys can help me.

incite:
JWT tuned sr20 with 2871r .64, external wastegate 10lbs spring, z32 maf, Greddy style intake, fuelrail, adjustable FPR, 500cc injectors, Apexi 1.1mm headgasket and rockerarm stoppers,.. stock block/internals. Intercooler exhaust etc. etc.

Car drives awesome. AFR's are on point. Responsive and fast. Shit just doesnt break traction tho. Tire chirps/scratches is about all it gets. Granite its kinda grippy, with 245/45/17s in the rear at about -1 to -1.5 camber and 40-45psi. Just trying to get more of them torques, and just like everyone,. on a budget.

Things I know, and questions I have.
-I need to turn the boost up.
-I need bigger injectors
Q-Whats a safe number to turn it up to, given the 500ccs
-I need jwt s3 cams
-New diff (final gear)
Q-I have a stock welded. 4.11 I believe. I know codyace has/had a 4.6 xterra diff. Which im sure would help. But I still do some street driving. Hows that ratio workout on the highway?....lol

To sum it,...which angle should I approach to get best results for now,.. until i got the money to focus all efforts?...lol

you dudes are dope

Your timing good as well? I figure even 10lbs at the top of second should break loose easy.

You're running a very tall tire, with not much camber, that has something to do with it. Grip. You'll spin if you run a narrower tire or a 40 series sidewall. 245/45 is pretty tall on a 17. If you're on stock gearing it should be a 4.08 IIRC.

I bet you'd be safe at 16psi on 500cc, keep an eye on the wide band just to make sure. 740cc injectors will essentially get you whatever you want out of that turbo.

Double check your timing, that's a possibility.

4.083..duuuh,.. i knew that! (good eye)

I figured the tires and alignment have alot to do with it,..lol

I really like how this alignment feels tho, so prefer not to change that.
Tires I def dnt have a problem playing with, I figured 245/45 would be a pretty safe grip/drift size tho. (spun these before)
Got some smaller ones I could try? :P

I personally don't like split setups on cams. To me, 272 is too much duration in any situation. IMO you'd be best served with 264 Step II's more than anything.

With that said, aftermarket manifold ftw. While these turbos spool fast, the realistic powerband is 4500 to redline...in which the stock manifold DOES NOT help anything. Greddy/Freddy manifold FTW. It exemplifies that powerband best.

It won't lag above that, but I dont' see the elongated duration on the EXH making any noticeable difference to go with the mod.

A 2871r a 10psi is probably 250-275whp without cams. I think a good tire would keep it from spinning. Heck I know my car with a little bit more boost and cam isn't always an instant tire smoker off the gate.

My car has gotten 30-32mpg countless times with the 4.6 final drive, when cruising at 60-70mph highway only. I don't speed much as the mpg is worth the difference. To me going 80mph isn't worth the saved nor gas time vs goign 70mph. I mean At that rate you're only really gaining 2-5 miles per hour gained, including cost.

That's actually kinda funny. I get the best MPG doing 75 or so (no joke), the best mileage I ever got on my car was a trip from Utah to Wyoming. I think I averaged about 80mph, and even a short stinted sprint with a Jag. I got over 30mpg, and that was with a 1/4 tank of in town driving.

For some reason the engine feels like it tightens up at 3500 (or whatever I'm doing at 75-80mph), The engine noise is less, it's smoother, and I really do get better mileage. Stock cams for right now, 550cc injectors, and basic tune,, yadda yadda. No don't have a GT2871, just a GT2860R, though upgrading it to a GTX2867 either this summer or when I finally get done overseas.

My diff and final gear sucks :/

I'm at 3500rpm at only 70mph. I hate it. All this power and such a shitty gear ratio for it.

All cars are certainly different, I think much of my thing is due to the 4.6 in the back vs the 4.08. I'd agree that with a 4.08 I'd probably be in the 75-80 range.

Yes, it is fun, but the 240 is just the tip of the iceberg. When I'm done with the overseas bit, I get to work on this for the next few months. Yes, that's my 240 in the background

Lol I know it's a lot, but I have a very strong sr. just rebuilt it also. My friend runs almost the same setup, but only make 343whp at 18psi. We get our cars tuned by sammy tiger in ga he does a great job.

SAFC is garbage.

How many times do we have to go through this?
Oh I know it is lol funny thing is I had it tuned the first time it made 356 at 19psi and I beat the hell out of it for a year. Then I just rebuilt it and the motor was so clean inside. Piston tops were clean so werw cylinder walls. I'm still getting the pfc mainly due to me getting cams. The safc neo did well giving all the bad stufd I hear about them.

well, I installed bc stage II cams on my car (gt2871r .64, 18psi, pfc) what afr should I shoot for at 8-12psi? at 18 I am getting 11.5-12.0:1... but I want to keep it at 14.7 from Load cells 1-10...

Mesarina How did the car feel after you put the BC264's in? I have a brand new set but have yet to put them in. Right now the Car has a 2860R, but will be upgrading to the gtx2867 shortly. Do the cams add any more lag on the bottom end?

I was skeptical too about the BC cams seen that some people don't recomend them, I got mine for $200 on ebay, the car feels a lot better, at 8-10psi the engine keeps reving (shifting at 7500rpms) you get a little more lag on the bottom end but not turbo lag, torque lag if you know what I mean... I came from v8s and always was bogging on the 180sx when trying to slide, but you get used to it... Im going to upload my inj, ign tables, and want to go to the dyno soon, but it already feels faster on the butt dyno... like 35whp

At what RPM do you feel it starts to catch up to the stockers? I know the top end on those is pretty good, but how much of a hit do you take on the bottom? Do you ever feel like the car is falling on it's face on the bottom end?

BTW with the BC's how much vacuum are you pulling now at idle?
