Also. . . if you're going to go aluminum 5.3, please remove the displacement on demand. Those engines sound so horrible on 4 cylinders at idle. Plus the fuel savings (are you really even concerned about that if you're doing a swap?), are minimal since you're putting the engine into such a light car.

Heads are stupid easy to pull on a V8 also, you can do all kinds of head work for stupid cheap on these too, AND install the heads in an afternoon.

Summary: Don't try to rebuild an engine. Don't F with the cam bearings. Just swap the cam, add springs and leave the rest alone.

The good thing about rotaries is you can get a cheap one brand new from mazda (because they know they often blow)
