help on 240z wheel fitment and flares

Well i know not to many people have 240z's on here but people on here deffitnetly know wheel fitments

If I were to go with a 10 inch wide front and 12 inch wide rear, what offsets would I require and what size flares would sit flush not no sunken in fit at all? this car will have a complete arizona z suspension also

couldn't come up with a definitive answer. Its hard to find someone having good fitment on a z. These will pretty much be a custom order and I want to get it right if I'm going to drop 2500+ on a set of wheels.

I had 15x10 -45s all around on my Z. Definitely required some zg flares if your wanted it flush. To get some ideas go search around on HybridZ

They are mostly a bunch of pansies over there and are sunken as hell but you might figure something out.

12 rear would be about -30 at the most. 10 front would be about -25. I had 12 -65 all 4 corners. What wheels are you planning on going? I am probably go with a custom set of Watanabe but the deepest they make 16's are 9.5 -19 which is no good. I am stuck going with maybe 15 x 11.5 -44. I got the wider rear flares.

15x11.5 -44 will look excellent under zg overfenders... if it is low enough and you stretch the tire a little.

forget about hybridz for wheel fitment, they have no clue.

15's will look good if the car is on the ground. I, myself am partial to 17/18's..

Alright so I did a little more research. I just wish I had the parts now to measure but this is what I have decided on either CCW or Watanabe:
Rear: 17"x12" wheel, 5.25" backspacing, -32 offset, 315/35 tire
Front: 17"x10" wheel, 5.25" backspacing, -6 offset, 275/40 tire

These would probably sit flush with super wide flares. What do you guys think? Is a 5.25" backspacing doable with Arizona coilovers?

I'm basing my measurements off this guy: Official Order Thread for rare Super (BAMF) Wide ZG Flares here! - HybridZ

He is running running CCW Classics...
Front: 17x9.5 (0 offset) w/ 275/40s
Rear: 17x10.5 (-12 offset) w/ 315/35s

They make some great products on there for the 240z's. I really do need to get started on mine, but I'll wait till the S14 is finished first. Arizona coilovers aren't the most slim ones out there, but I doubt you'll have much of an issue doing it. While I am against 17's on a 240z, its your car and your choice. I would like to see the outcome of this.

CCW's are nice. Don't go to hybridz.org all they know are knock offs. Don't base your judgment on the red car either his sizing are failed. I love big wheels but if your keeping it old school and watanabe is the way to go and like I said you would have to be going 15's. now since your going for performance that yes CCW's are the way to go but I'd rather rock some Work wheels but you would have to get them in 15 also for some crazy offset, well looking at the PDF file for there size they offer.

The watanabe post from datsunspirit.com are perfect for normal ZG flares but 9.5 rear is just not going to do it for the OP. I had 12s before and I feel like I never want to downsize haha.

I thought 15's are lame but when you really thing about it is perfect for this car time period.
this picture of course is no help but I am just letting you know that 15's are bad.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread. Curious, did a google search on "240z wheel fitment" and this was the first to show up lol.

What did you end up going with? If you still have the z that is. Im by central jersey and im building my 76 280, curious what set up you went with and how it is stanced.

Oh wow I feel old now bringing back this thread. It felt like yesterday I made this thread lol.
I actually still have not finished up the z it will be done this summer I hope. I been focusing on my 240sx lately.

But the size rims I am planning on going with are 17x11 or 12 depending on my final measurements with 0 offset ccw lm20 wheels and 17x10 front i forget offset.

I really want a 16 inch wheel for looks but, I cant get tires in 315

I have a S30Z book I picked up in Japan that has like 20 pages of different wheel fitment set ups so if you are looking for offset options still post up.

Do you seriously need 315s? Please don't tell me you're V8-ing a 240Z. I have a LS car and I would never do that to one of those cars, haha. I wouldn't do a RB or SR either, L28 all the way.

yup Going ls1 .Its really my brothers project im just helping him out. The z cost less then my 240sx. If I wanted to keep it classic i would have bought one that didnt need much work or rust repair.

I would be interested in knowing some of that stuff in that book you have.

Dam 17x12 would be stupid phat! lol! I upgraded to the silvermine motors rear disk conversion and need to get new wheels, the ones I have fit with a 30mm spacer (too much in my opinion but im getting the zg flares so ill make it work). I have the panasports 15x7 0+ all around, they look awesome but I want something better so I can stretch the tires and have that nice stance. I honestly cant find any attractive 16in wheels that arent 500+ per wheel and 17in I have never been a fan but seeing some s30's with 18's I might like them but the offsets are too positive. My brakes probably can be cleared with a -20 offset wheel soo with a 30mm I can get a minimal of a +10 wheel which is pretty low for bigger wheels liek 18's.

Im just curious as to whats out there, already stated hybrid isnt really focused on fitment. Migel and yuta (the only 2 U.S. slammed z's I can think of off hand) Know how to do fitment but no one else really experiments with this.

Im building my L28, brought the z to build up and get running. Right now im waiting for the motor but wheels/fitment and stance are something that to me ALWAYS make or break a car.

Any suggestions on wheels? I have seen so many but the really classic ones kind of stop at 15 and are WEAKSAUCE in sizes like 8in -___- I want a 9+, 10 preferablly but there is nothing out there without breaking the bank.

If you want a nice stance most of time you will need to pay over 1500 easily.

Yea I was checking out ssr sp1r and sp1's. The xxr are nice cheap wheels but the ssr is just a nice look. $1500 isnt so bad on wheels, I looked at the classic watanabee's and your looking at 4k shipped here. Im starting to think of wheels like 16x10 or 17x10 would better be suited.

Post up pics!
