Hell yeah, Eleven's Paint & Fiber is the best paint shop I know of in this area. I recommend everybody to them. Always coming through with awesome paint jobs and magazine cover cars.

That the mavericks kit? Used that one for my jzs171/CD009 setup in my Cressida. Wasn't super thrilled with the job they did with dowel pins getting everything concentric, take your time putting it together. Also, if you get a trans with the internal slave you'll need a spacer. Rich at xcessive made one for me, last I checked they don't sell it but I'm sure he still has the drawings.

Yes it’s the maverick kit. I’m doing an external slave trans.

Moved into my new house over the weekend and naturally rushed to grab my 1J before I even unpacked.

I got the motor on the engine stand and fired it up for a second. Still need to figure out the throttle body if If i want to run it any longer. I was able to hear the servo energize when I put power to the blue w/ white stripe wire but still couldnt get it to work. It not a huge deal since I have the full wiring specialties harness when I toss it in the car, but would be cool to rev it a bit to make sure there are no weird noises. Ill post a vid soon!

Finally got around to pulling out the KA

Currently looking for a clean core support, mine is a little bacon.

Also freshened up the 1J. New timing belt, 2J water pump, cam seals, front and rear main, VVTI rebuilt and some other bits

Yes, I am. Still not sure what color yet. I have some bronze left over from my wheels that would be nice, but if i change my wheels it would throw it off. might do the valve cover in that. I really dont care about the bay paint that much. I just want to go drive the f*ck out of this car and crash it

Finally got around to spraying the bay. After a lot of debate I decided to just go with Red. This is by no means a perfect bay, like my S14 was. I dont care that much this time around. Just want to get it back on the road and have fun.

Started with lots of sanding and etching primer

Laying down the base coat

Then splashed it with some sauce

Once that was down I masked the bay holes, A LOT of them, to prep for undercoating

Got work done this weekend. I can not stress enough how much this sucked. I have probably swapped 30+ engines and this was by far the least enjoyable, mainly due to the transmission.

Maverick adapter and flywheel all bolted up

Trans on

bout to get stuffed

HNnnnGGG

Here is where the fun started.. So i beat the living shit out of the bell housing area, that all was no issue. What I over looked was the area just above the cross member. I ended up using a scissor jack and spreading the metal A LOT so the transmission had clearance. I also had to cut the shifter hole about 2-3 inches back which i was not thrilled about. I do sit further back with my street faction seat bracket so it is very comfortable, but cosmetically ill have to either cut and weld the shifter further forward or make my own center counsel. Bolting the cross member in was another story as well as getting the engine to sit straight. At least my nightmare is over. My back was literally red and raw from crawling under the car 100+ times.

Glad that is done. Also tossed in the driveshaft while I was under there. Started hooking everything up. Fuel lines done(ish) still need to make brakcets to hold the lines across the firewall. Powersteering is all done, utilizing the oem cooling loop for now. Heater hoses all done. I started routing the wiring harness and accidentally broke off the VVTI solenoid plug. Basically was about 10 hours into it Sunday and decided I should stop before I break more stuff from being exhausted.

I love seeing progress on this car! I have a coupe, that I'm doing full kouki aero on, and the plan is to swap in a 1J. I don't have much time to work on mine, so, seeing this car progress makes me very happy.

Attempted first test drive. Made it down the driveway. Trans dragged on the curb and snapped the clutch line.

Nooooooo! I have the same setup pretty much, 1j cd, and it does seem to hang pretty low. That curb looks like a decent drop too.

Got any pics of the fans in there as well? Interested in how you fit them as pullers.

It probably sits maybe half an inch from the ground. Im pretty annoyed, If I would have known it sat this low I never would of gone with the transmission. It has been nothing but expensive and a pain to fit. I will probably have to raise my car up so I dont destroy it.

I dont have any pics of it. I shaved the front of the water pump and the stud, probably fit it and cut the core support like 5 times. Im guessing ill need to notch the hood for the radiator cap now.
