Post S13 Snow Shoes

Greetings,

First, I did a fair bit of searching between Zilvia and Nicoclub, however i'm not really coming to any conclusions, hence the thread.

Second I will be driving my S13 for Winter this year, and want to outfit its SE wheels with some snow shoes, Blizzak WS-80s, Here are the sizes available in that tire.

175/65R15
185/55R15
185/60R15
185/65R15
195/65R15
205/65R15
215/70R15

My car is slightly lowered on KYB GR2's and RSR Sport comp springs, I was considering running either..

205/65R15 on all four corners, or 205/65R15 on the rears and a smaller sidewall like the 185/60's up front.

Any input would be recommended.

Thanks

Nothing is going to help a 240 in the snow. Unless you Have a locking diff and chains, you have one wheel drive from one of the rear tires.

If you can’t drive through the weather using “all seasons”, the winter tires will not give you much extra. The car behaves great in the snow and on ice, until it doesn’t, and then you are screwed no matter what tires you have.

If you are still set on using it during winter, get a square setup as the car handles best with a square setup

Eh, I would thoroughly disagree with the assertion if you can't make it with all-seasons you can't make with Winters, having grown up in the north east, I know exactly how far a quality set of all seasons will get you, vs a dedicated set of snow tires, or even studdable snow tires.

My car has a HLSD, which is great until one wheel is on ice essentially, but i've driven other cars, RWD and FWD in deep snow, with and without snow tires and i'd always take the snow tires.

Thanks for the advice on the square setup, I'm abit concerend about fitting a high sidewall tire like a 65 series in the front.

I ran with some 195/65/15 snow tires up front and 205/65/15 in the back and it shredded so hard. I have a VLSD and just a little throttle control and you can get all around town no problem. All season are crap compared to actual winter tires. It does make a huge difference to run directional winter tires.

S13 with snowtires is the BEST winter car ever. No need to go and do anything super fancy at all. Just run the same thing all around. Not sure what you have for wheels right now, but just get some stock spares throw whatever size on it.

Tire wise, I drove a year on WS60s I think? It has been like 12 years since. They were great, but I also suggest General Arctic Altimax. They are usually very cheap and work real well in snow. They are louder and a little more flexible than most blizzaks fyi.

When I drove my s13 in winter it was lowered and had a 2 way diff in it. Too much fun... If I ever have garage space, I will probably do it again as a winter beater.
