s13 VH45de + cd009 +s13 swap help

Hello Zilvia,

I've started the huge undertaking of swapping a '95 vh45de into my s-chassis, and would like some technical knowledge on mating it up with a CD009 trans (late model z33 revision) I understand most vh guys go with the z32TT trans due to its proven strength and all that crap, but I'm really set on getting a six speed in there.

The only adapter plate I can find is from Collins adapters:
http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...ter-plate.html

I figure I use that with the cd009 to s13 cross member from Xcessive:
https://www.driftmotion.com/N-S-VQ-TCM-S1-p/dm3301.htm

but past this I'm just stupid. What else would I need to find/have fabbed to get this shit to function, what clutch/flywheel to use, etc.

I can't be the only guy who's tried to make this work, anybody ever give this a shot, or have info as to why it's never been done before? I'd love to hear some input.

Sounds like too much work to me. Cd trans hangs scary low anyway, check out the CD trans thread in chat.

It'd be easier to get the Mazworx stuff, they make a VH to VG kit, then you can use the Vg clutch etc. Hell, Mazworx even makes headers for the swap too.

Z32 Swap. Cheaper and easier and just as capable.

I really appreciate the suggestions and all, but already own a CD trans, sooooo.. I'm stickin with it, more difficult or not. I'm currently reading through the swap thread, tons of useful info in there. I didn't know about the bellhousing conversions, that might be a better route if it keeps the length down by an inch or so.

Ah ok. I really don't know how you would figure out what clutch to use. The collins kit for example, it uses a huge custom flywheel, this lets us use the z33-34 clutch disc and pressure plate.

So you could either measure out the throw on the cd trans -> to the vh and figure out the correct flywheel thickness, and get one built. Or go the other way(no idea).

Since Collins makes an adapter plate, then someone must have done that trans on that engine before. Why not email Collins and ask them what flywheel/clutch they offer or can be used with that transmission.

My brother and I where just spitballing that idea, any proof that flywheel could work? It made sense to us. Also contacted collins already. been waiting for a reply.

Have you made any more progress on mounting the cd009 to the vh45 in your s13 with the collins adapter and xcessive mounts? I found a cd009 for a great deal, also I'd rather have a cd009 vs a vg trans. This is the only thread i can find that pertains to a vh/cd009 in a s13 style chassis is why im asking.
