SR SR20DET GT2871R oil drain/return alignment

I searched awhile and pieced together the parts required to make this fit smoothly. However, when I test fit the parts, it still seems out of whack. If I have the GT2871R's center cartridge positioned so the oil in and out are vertical, the oil return drain tube almost touches the tube on the block. I rotated the center cartridge slightly and it looks a little better, but it still doesn't look like the factory hose would fit well here.

redtop S13 SR20DET
stock exhaust manifold
GT2871R
OE S14 oil return drain tube
OE S14 oil return drain hose

Other members have referenced these parts as the best stock solution but I've got something wrong here.

Would get something like this and call it a day. The outlet you have picture hangs wayy to low. You will have drainage problems trying to make that work.

Sidenote: did you really pay $90 for that?

It's close and those parts should work. Maybe rotate the turbo so that the drain tube is closer to the block.

I felt the same, but these are the parts that many seem to recommend as a direct fit. It seems to hang too low and I would have to clock the center cartridge 15-20 degrees from straight down. That worries me since it's gravity fed.

No, I didn't buy the kit from frsport. I bought the s14 t28 return tube a long time ago. Finally trying to finish this rebuild I started years ago and just ordered the hose from frsport.

It's hard to tell from the angle and pictures I took, but if I rotate it so the return tube is closer to the block, it's still not aligned.

Does anyone have a picture of their oil return setup? Preferably the stock s14 return tube, but I'd love to see any other than the stock t25.

I'm coming from a topmount setup, so everything has been replaced.

I bought the same piece and had the same problem, I ended up just buying the 5/8" stubby flange piece and using hose.

Thanks for confirming your experience. I'll take another look tonight, but will likely get the straight drain corby linked and use oil rated hose.

You need the drain tube off of an s13 t25 for an application using an s13 shortblock, at least that's what I did and it works fine.

I have the following..
-redtop sr
-Gt2871r
-tomei expreme manifold and outlet pipes
-Isr drain tube for s14/15
-oem s14/15 drain hose
I was worried about everything fitting and it lined up no problems. Easiest part of the install.
