KA turbo options??

me and my buddy just bought a 240 last week, was wondering what a decent turbo really is. its the ka24det, and its turb part number is t3/t4? also has ar.50 printed on the turbo. if someone would be able to tell me a price range i should be looking at to spend, or shoot me a few decnt turbos links that would be great!

If it's your average 240sx there's probably a lot of maintenance items which need to be addressed before you even consider turbocharging it.

I already has been turbocharged, it has a fuel pump and injectors, I'm just questioning which turbo would be a good option to choose as my buddy and I are a little unsure about what to replace it with. The same turbo is only 125$ but I know that's a cheap turbo, any other options as far as another turbo that is more reliable and it doesn't have to push big amounts of boost.

You can't really replace the turbo unless you re-tune your ECU, or unless you're replacing it with the same turbo. I would go with the S15 turbo though. It's a good, reliable OEM quality turbo for about 7-17psi.

Nissan 14411-91F00 Factory OEM S15 Spec R SR20DET Ball Bearing Turbo Garrett GT28R

Kinda expensive, but worth it IMO. You could probably get about 300hp or more with a good tune.

Just by reading your post I can tell you need to read about turbos in general and what those numbers represent and mean. I'm assuming you have a el cheapo blown turbo and are going into this blind. Need to do some reading before the motor blows next. Give more info on your setup. It sounds like somebody pawned their nightmare onto you and your buddy.

Also I wouldn't downsize to t28. Your turbo size is fine. If anything go bigger.

True, but if he goes bigger he'll probably need a rebuild, which is a lot more expensive. If you want to stay top mount then I would suggest the GT3071r or GT3076r turbos for sure.

Your motor should handle a T67 just fine. Go T72 if you want more top end

You already have a t3/04 .50 turbo on your KA and you're looking to upgrade? Shouldn't that setup be capable of ~350whp with the proper supporting mods & good tuning? Just what are your goals here?!

Yeah, that T3/04 is cheap, but that's why ppl use them: Because they make decent power & retain good response on the KA. What makes you think you need to throw yours away? Whats wrong with it? Sound like the car already has a good foundation in place to me. Try not to blow it up...

T72 is kind of small. He might not get proper voltage to the VTEC solenoid.

Ho lee FUCK you are obviously pretty clueless. Best bet is to start doing LOTS and LOTS of research instead of making new threads.

just a heads up op you most likely have an ebay set up. thos numbers are all they put on the ebay turbos I would rock a t28, or 20g because it doesn't sound like your ka is built or that you have the plans of building it.
