Domestic redtop?
Ok guys i have a machine company calling to get prices on pistons for my redtop sr, and i believe wiseco or JE asked the guy at the company chuck if my engine was a JDM blacktop or a Domestic redtop. The guy said that the combustion chambers on the heads are different and the redtop comes stock with higher compression. Now to my understanding all turbo sr's are sold out of the use and considered JDM, the redtop and blacktop both have the same compression ratio of 8.5:1 stock. Im not sure about the combustion chambers, but i know the flow on the heads is different, but the blocks i thought were the same. Can anyone clarify maybe what this guy was saying, or should i just go to the machine shop and tell them the guy is an idiot just order me 87mm 8.5:1 JE pistons?

well it was a difference between 8.8:1 pistons and 9.5:1 pistons and i told the guy i didnt want to go any higher than stock 8.5:1 and that there is no way the 9.5:1 is designed with turbo cars in mind but i guess maybe he just got an idiot on the line. I'll tell him to call back, i just told him id ask online to see if anyone had run into this before.
