You saw $1000 because someone is trying to set the new price. They won't go for $1000.

I'm mildly interested but I don't think I can bring myself to spend this much.

All that being said, undercut the market, stop these greedy assholes from setting the 'new' going rate, and you'll probably still make some cash on top of your initial investment in these.
