Project Dx3 [Daily Driven Drift] ^_-

So...my names Shawn I own a 91 Nissan 240sx SE

My plans are to do this car justice cause it needed LOADS of tlc now to the build

Heres what im starting with

Now here is the run down

The bad :scare::banghead:

- Interior needs a complete over haul
- dash is cracked
- dash and door Wiring is hacked
- seats are torn\stained
- previous owner was a smoker [for those that don't know nicotine gets into all fabric gets very sticky on plastic and builds up and causes an Oder so the car needs a deep cleansing to eliminate that]
- All locks were broken and seized
- carpet was in the worst possible condition
- cigarette liter wasn't holding the liter so it was just stuffed under the center console
- had some bs alarm that didn't even work and only made a light up thing blink -___-
- they removed the grommets from all spots inside the car

- Now to the exterior -_______-
- it was repainted HORRIBLY
- Tail lights needed replacement because it had water in the drivers side due to a crack
- needed a back bumper and the support
- they sealed hatch seal with RTV -_____- and they bondoed over the wholes were the spoiler was
- they used the slide hammer from autozone or wat ever and just used bondo to fill the wholes plus they never used self etching primer to cover up the bare metal

Now on to the Mechanical Issues

- needed mounts
- battery was shot
- has a wierd clutch idk how long it might hold up
- radiator was bad and the fan was super glued together smfh
- needs a water pump
- has a power steering leak
- exhaust was all welded together with no cat so i had to cut it off
- over flow tank was cracked
- needed tension rods tierods and tie rod ends
- struts n springs didn't seam like they was gonna hold up to much longer
- thinking i might need brakes but ill keep these till they go bad

the good:grin:

- Not one spec of frame rot
- i got pioneer rear speakers
- it runs
- power windows work
etc i think there is more but i dont remember the rest now on to what i have accomplished within the past few months and how far iv gotten

So i started with the interior

This is what it looked like

Now with in the first couple of months owning it i bought lots of parts to start fixing it and some new goodies to her

I picked up a Isis short throw shifter and a mishmoto shift knob this was the first thing i installed lol

THEN i began tearing it all apart

1st thing get this damn carpet out

pretty yucky hua

well most of this had come from the moisture build up due to the floor grommets

So i gave it a good cleaning ^__^

came out pretty dam good if u ask me and i grinned down were the hole was in the floor to bare metal and used some rubberized undercoating to keep it from rusting

Tore the door panel off found out why i didn't have and front speakers -___-
there was no speakers there from the get go

No i decided to pull the dash out get started with the wiring and rip that ****ty alarm out

i also picked up some more parts needed such as

- new hatch that has all the right seals on it done alot better
- exhaust [apexi gt spec ]
- dash
- miscellaneous interior pieces that was needed and a few others

me n my buddy started some of the body work as well but heres how she was sitting for a while

i also picked up the mounting brackets for the front speakers and i got a set of Rockford frostgates so shes gonna sound very nice once im done

Now i ripped out the dash started soldering the hacked harness

my buddy matt giving me a hand with the build

Welp i foundsss me a new dash at a local junkyard so i got alot more parts that was needed to fix the interior

Well intermission :

I used to own a civic i had done lots of work to it Nissan is way different and im really liking the crowd alot better than the Honda world and 2 iv always been a Nissan fan at heart ^_^

heres a photo of my. old civic

i had alot of work done to it

NOW BACK TO WORK

took a run to Joann's fabric
me n my. friend josh was working on the headliner

so we traced the out line outline of it with the foam for extra padding

we layed down the fabric

then wala we have a new headlined wrapped and ready for install

Now i started to pick up some more parts such as

- Tien tie rods

- Tien tie rod ends

- Bc coilovers

I took my diff down painted it got it welded for now untill i can afford a lsd and this will help me learn pretty quick on drifting

Matt helping me reseal the hatch

So after we got the hatch on

we started installing my seats harnesses and all my other goodies that i had left from my. civic

the car needed a new shift boot so i got a red and black stitching one

i picked up a momo hub but i had these left over from the civic

Nrg quick release and lock

after all the wiring got done me n Matt started piecing everything together

that looks alot better ^____^

now i really started cracking down with the body work trying to desperately get it all done but i still got loads of work ahead of me

now i put it up on jack stands ripped the fenders off

started all the work for the body

im rockin out with a ka for now i painted my valve cover orange but more of a satin orange

and picked up some strut bars

Now i got a bit farther with the body work i was slackin for a wile but when we got hit with that one week of AMAZING WEATHER son let me tell you i was wishing my. car was on the road

So i made my own e-brake boot and also got a cusco button

after all that nice weather along came some more goodies

such as my

Megan tension rods

Header

tail lights and head lights
i dont have a picture of them atm

270mm broad way mirror

pillar bar

hid kit 6000k

my. wheels

cold air intake

license plate re-locator

Now my. rooms looks like a parts store LOL

made some progress on the body work and starting to get somewhat started with the mechanical work

My car and my boy dillions car

Looking shiner than some peoples paint lol jp

Ohh and i forgot to mension i got some side skirts from a friend

now i decided to take a break from the body work cause it was starting to take a toll on me and i really started going into the engine bay to do lots of work

Its lookin some what better

So,
- i ripped out the radiator
- look off the exhaust manifold
- battery is getting junked
- started a mild tuck in the wiring

i cleaned up the passenger strut tower

this is how the drivers side looked
pretty goosssee and old like Barry bonds n **** lol:grin:

Also instead of getting and aluminum over flow tank im taking my empty bottle of henny and making some good use for it ^_^

now i have more stuff i will be doing though out the week i will have more up dates please feel free to comment tell me your thoughts questions on anything and ill be glad to reply as soon as i can so stay tuned for more up dates later on this week or so :asplode:

Sincerely
Joker

Sorry for not stopping through with the updates between school and trying to work on this project an all the running around has had left me with little to no time.

Now time for your updates

- So i decided that i need to coat the car so i can help prevent rust in the near future so my. wheel wells wasn't looking to pretty

took off all the front suspension

Now it looks like someone had grease burgers and left nice stains on your fav shirt

Continuing on, i took the liberty on a nice hot day we had to scrub out the wheel wells and let them dry then undercoated them

now after i did this i cleaned up all the dirt and grime build up from the road on all the parts i took off the spindles tension rod bracket and cleaned the front lca

i did not get photos of this it was 2 nasty

So i really started to chew into the mechanical work from here on but b4 remember this

- decided to rip out my. ac cause any car i have owned i like to keep the windows down and cruse plus i never use it anyways

- Tuck some wires

- scrub all that gunk off from the bay and engine clean it sand and paint it

b4

SO NASTY that i was in there with a steel brush, screw driver, and engine degreaser for a few hrs cleaning with the help of my cousin and my. friend samir so it went from that to this

looking better ALOT BETTER

well im still not done !!!

so i sanded down the bay on both sides removed cretin things that i didn't want paint on and taped down more stuff that didn't need paint to get on it

then as my engine bay choice of color i choose "battle ship gray" NO not primer with clear on it an actual color

enjoying my. time at home here spent with a red stripe

then i went a head a cleaned the block and head and sprayed that with high temp cast coat aluminum so the bay is looking pretty clean now imo

So as all that is all clean i wanted to give it a few days to fully dry so i dont go ruining the paint so i decided to clean up all the stuff i took off and i noticed on my. brake caliper bracket that the bolt was never fully through on the threading heres the photos of what i mean

the amount of dirt build up was retarded it literately would not go any further i impacted it still no budge so i hat to clean it manually [screw driver and elbow grease

then this is how the bolt is supposed to hold

wire wheeled each bolt and lubricated the threads and HOT DAMN !!

now on to the rest of the parts

now these are the spindles before i did some work to them

and here are they now

i wanted to check my. water pump alternator and thermostat turns out it must have been changed not to long ago everything was good and it was oem nissan so

i degreased the alternator, water pump and thermostat housing painted them cast coat aluminum

Then !!! clean up everything else such as

- alternator bracket

- changed the color on my sway bar, strut bar and mounting brackets, gloss black on the brackets to instead of flat black

- white sway bar

- white strut bar

- the tension rod brackets

- my. mudflaps i picked up from my boy

all clean

Then on to some new parts

- picked up some new hose to run to the new coolant reservoir

- 24k gold battery terminals

- Gold Fender washers to Compliment the bay and the terminals as well

Also got all the gaskets to reseal the water pump, thermostat,Exhaust manifold, diff cover seal, and new brake boot's to make sure everything is sealed back and right

also thanks to josh he came up with and customized my oil cap so it looks like a sprocket

i also got a after market Sr radiator for it i got for a awesome deal and i also needed one as well got slim fans and the shroud but i wasn't able to take photos of it so here's what im left with for the last photo b4 i leave you in suspense

i started assembling everything back and all the new parts that i have i will have updates later on this month im trying to get this baby up and on the road so there will be a major update soon enough thanks for looking i deff appreciate it for looking at all the work i have done So till the next update ^_^

thanks man i will re do the entire bay once im ready to install my new motor i needed to paint it because there was spots that was starting to rust and they needed to be fixed plus i have had no time to actually enjoy nor drive the car since iv owned it so i want a bigger reason that just some surface rust is no biggie cause if need be ill cut and re weld it later but as for now i took it all back down to bare metal and sprayed the bay to keep it from spreading further more

loving* The word is loving.

And in Kendall's defense, the attention to detail only lies within the bay so far in your build and your interior is hideous. 24K battery terminals? Really?

It's not hate but why should anybody pay attention to a "build" when all you've done is clean up a 240 engine bay, slapped on some strut bars, and then slap on a stock KA with new parts. Has me thinking "How is this even a build?"

A lot of the parts you put on goes to show that you should've stayed with Hondas. N/A KA builds require much more than fancy hoses and grim clean up.

Here's or here is*. Goodness, you illiterate herb.

My opinion will not change for what you have done before your fore-warned changing update & I don't think it's going to change after this update.

Honda folks get a bad rep because people like you get hostile to a point where you look like a complete douchebag. I'm not a hater for simply putting you on the spot for creating "clean up bolt on" thread.

You posted on this forum at your discretion to be seen by many and to receive the opinions (good or bad) from those people.

You must have won the spelling b at school as well hua ?

well when you continue to act like a complete douche towards someone and casting judgement on their build on that individual because they were a previous honda owner ! doesn't really make people stay calm and their more likely to get hostile. like me it takes respect to get respect so in a sense i can see your side cause i know a few people that i wouldn't want in the scene period and i can see that some honda owners can be illiterate but its still not cool to be so judgmental towards someone or what they bring to the table because of there previous car get where im coming from ?

criticize all you would like but its my build, my car, and ill do it the way i want not yours

Side note : pictures are still uploading will post as soon as its all done

im sorry fellas been really busy lately but heres the along waited update its really far so ill try n keep everything in order as best as i can

but at this point where i left off i started installing all the abundances of parts iv been ordering and painting

also installed my new harnesses and my c pillar bar

the engine bay starting to come together

i got the car up a bit higher, then cleaned AND undercoated the entire car so it will deff help against rust

after that i needed to hook up my fans so i picked up a shroud made some custom brackets and purchased some bolts from home depot and wala

(all good )

i also picked up my switch and wired up my fans got some wire loom to keep things pretty simple and not 1mil wires running every where

also polished my radiator and fan shroud

looking better imo

now i decided to tackle the suspension in the rear a lil here's the b4

now i got the coils rear upper control arm and toe arms installed woot and cleaned up the rotors and painted the calipers and hub

i grabbed a pioneer double din head unit with navi (yeaaahhh buddy )
and a fire extinguisher

here is some interior shots

started some more on the exterior test fit all my panels and put the wheels on for a reference to see if i liked em but i just decided to sell them later

engine bay put back together everything installed and i also got pictures of it running it took me about 6 tires to start it but when she started it was the best feeling boy did i have so much motivation at that point to dive it but i didnt decided i still had a long way to get before she was done and didnt want to risk it

ill have a video of her starting later

i got the tires mounted woot woot

and i also sold my old steering wheel and bought a grip royal Woodie 2 steering wheel and purchased the horn button

Installed with the momo hub i didnt like how close it was so i grabbed a circuit sports hub later on ill post pictures of the difference which i must say its so much better woot!

SO AT THIS POINT

i really got started on the body work mind by you im not a professional body man but i think i needed to learn cause im not gonna dish out 2500+ for a paint job if i wrecked it drifting So here we go...

knocked out a few dents in the fender and hammer and Dollie the lip to get it really flush front and rears where done moved the car for the first time today just to turn it around

worked on the hood can primed so i can remember where i left off

getting a entire car ready for paint is alot harder that others may think

welp i got all the body work done and decided that im gonna grow a set and finally paint it cause winter was near and i only had a few hot days coming up that would be needed to paint it
purchased a set of spray guns from home depot one primer and one paint

so here you go

Primer sealed the front bumper and fender woot woot

i went with a white primer to give it an extra pop when i lay down color

continued the body work getting closer to painting it and started a lil prepping

WELL ITS TIME young paddawan lol

i got a job at napa so now i picked up some things in bulk such as plastic shielding for painting cars
