RB replacement "blue vin" CA only

I have an rb25 rhd coupe. The rhd is a conversion. I have seen people successfully get a blue vin plate in the door jam from the chp to replace the dash one... I'm wondering if this will be a problem being that I have an rb and they'll be snooping around my engine bay to check the vin plates. Any info will be appreciated.

Why not just take the vin off your old dash and affix it to the new dash?

Im going to bet chp will pop your hood and check the vin on the firewall. i got really lucky and went and did a vin ID at the DMV and they didnt pop my hood they just checked the door jam and dash. so if its possible i would see if you can do it at the dmv because i know chp in my area would write you a ref ticket real quick if they saw an RB

if the vehicle is already titled in ca they don't normally inspect the vehicle. its usually only when you are bringing in a vehicle from another state/country that they do a vin inspection.

What if you don't have your original dash vin?
I heard that if you don't have your original vin and you tell them you bought a new dash from the dealer, because your old one is broken (but really, your doing a RHD conversion), they will just stamp your door jam a blue stamp/sticker?

I would like to know what exactly you need for this. Like if you need to get it inspected etc...

Perhaps you shod just consult the dmv website, or your local branch, instead of asking a bunch of people who don't work at the dmv, and are just speculating.
