Here's how she sits, all mice infested and everything. Going to be making a little progress this weekend.

I currently have one VG30DE that I will be using for the time being, until I can turbocharge one of my three VG33E's. Cat's out of the bag I guess haha. They honestly fit really well.

Had Isky grind some cams for the VG33E (Mr. Iskenderian is the man responsible for grinding most of the Nismo camshafts in the late 80's, early 90's.)

sweet dude, on the vg30de I recommend replacing the tensioner for the belt.

I found one on ebay for like 45 dollars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HYDRAULIC-TE...item21076b7ede

Thanks, I have a full timing belt kit for it. I may just go with the EPR solid tensioner anyway.

If you don't mind me asking. What does it run to get that much done? Who are you using? I know a larger batch wouldn't cost much more than a small batch but I was just curious.

I'm using a local company called Kalamazoo Metal Finishers. I told them I had most of a 5-gallon bucket filled and they said somewhere between $55-70. Well worth it in my opinion!

Doing the timing belt on this thing. Coolant passages are nasty!

Boring deconstruction pics. More hardware for re-plating and the crossmember/rear subframe are going to be stripped, modified, and powdercoated. Feels like I've done this before

I put the mock up SOHC in yesterday to check clearances and see what the turbo system and intake manifold fab are going to involve. I was going to run this Z31 plenum but now that I look inside it, they are garbage. Sorry for the shoe camera, my nice one broke.

some more small updates. Got a new phone so no more shoe photos.

A better look at how much room the 33E has.

Did some spring cleaning with offthewall

Added some much needed shelf space in the garage.

And finally pulled the crank pulley off the DE so I can do the timing. Man does this thing need some cleaning and paint.

Decided to do the hardware in classic yellow.

VG30DE heads are a victim of the 1990 soft valve issue. They need a full refresh.

So I'll be putting the SOHC in first. Intake manifold doesn't really clear, but the Z31 one is JUNK as far as flow goes. Not sure what I'm going to do here...

Oil pan needs the same type of clearance mods to clear the subframe.

Drilling out these panels and trying to find a way to build a 3D model of the bare interior so I can CAD up a cage and get it CNC bent and notched.

that hardware looks great Andy, I may have to use that same company. was there any difference in cost between your original idea of black, and instead going to the cadmium plated look (or is that real cadmium plating?)

I thought it was zinc, like the hardware originally came?

Either way, looks awesome.

Hey Stranger! It is Zinc dichromate, good for over 100 hours in salt spray tests. No additional cost, the refinisher didn't want to do black because he said they would turn out "ugly".

It hits the valvecover on the VG30DE. I've thought about swapping to a B13 one, but I'd like to see if I can get the pedal to act right without one altogether.

Did some messing around with Matchbot. I plan on running an S200SXE in the 1.22 A/R turbine housing. Looks like a good street/drift turbo with excellent response and efficiency. If I ever decide to push the block my goal will be to maintain 400wtq for as much of the powerband as possible.

you missed a few minor things that will have a big impact on the spool and wastegate stuff. from the looks of it i think you'll be happier with an S300SX-e

i tweaked the design a little bit for you (EGT's on E85 are lower)

http://www.turbos.borgwarner.com/go/UJW2FW

if you go twin scroll it'll help a bit too on the low end which i see no reason not to. I think you'll like the S300SX-E in a .91A/R housing.

you missed a few minor things that will have a big impact on the spool and wastegate stuff. from the looks of it i think you'll be happier with an S300SX-e

i tweaked the design a little bit for you (EGT's on E85 are lower)

if you go twin scroll it'll help a bit too on the low end which i see no reason not to. I think you'll like the S300SX-E in a .91A/R housing.

You are correct, I forgot about that. The turbo will definitely be twinscroll, as I’ll have tubular manifolds.

Seems like they’re really close, and I had the matchbot setup for my max power goals. Why do you say I’ll like the S300 better?

while on the S257 you see better spool you'll be outside of the efficiency range of the turbo after 5K RPM. you'll run the danger of surging it from not enough flow specially if you get curious with higher boost / RPM levels.

the S300 will sit on the efficiency range from 3K till redline AND it'll give you room to grow for the after party that happens around 30psi. I'll get the datalog of an S300 83/75 Supra i did, dude wanted response and we were seeing 18psi in under 3400rpm if memory serves me right. we are adding cams and springs to the car right now so we can strap it on the dyno to get some actual numbers but it's a riot right now on the basemap & 91. since you're 3.3L i think you'll have a ton of fun with the S362SX-E just something to think about.

I'm curious how difficult it would be to match the runners and firing order for a twin scroll setup on a v6 engine that has two separate manifolds.

You're right. I went back through and corrected the S200SXE values and I noticed that the 2000rpm point was deep into surge. I'm not too concerned with off into choke, but it does look like the 61.4mm would be damn close in response. Thanks for the input, I'll be moving up!

The firing order of Nissan V6's are all 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, so you literally just pair the runners together by bank and run them into each side of the turbine housing. Doesn't get much easier!

This is my friend Mike's. He has a divided T3 GT3582R. My setup will be similar.

well choke / surge aside. after 5000 RPM you're outside the efficiency range, and with that much boost AIT's would not be ideal either. so close to peak torque would probably make the car real knock sensitive too. I think the S300 is overall a good starting point for any engine 3L and up.
