s13 Im stumped

So ive been have some problems with my car. At first my car would tick alot when i tried to turn it on so i thought i had a dead battery, then i jump started it and let it charge for a while and instantly after i turned it off it would just tick alot when i tried to start it. so i thought that my battery was done with so i put in a new one. same problem just constant ticking when i tried to start it. then i thought my alternator went bad so i jumped my car and let it sit and unpluged my battery and it still was running so my alternator is good.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Starter? Bad ground connection? Does it start if you roll it down a hill and dump the clutch?

Why would you pull a starter to test it? Just put 12V to the solenoid trigger wire and see if it cranks. If not the problem is in the power/ground or the ignition switch circuit.

It's a common problem for the ignition switch to make a clicking/buzzing too, so don't rule that out. Turn the key very slowly and see if it starts, if it does, then it's probably the ignition switch and not the starter.

its a relay clicking, we had the same problem on my friends s13. Change your alternator. Seriously we chased this problem for about 2 weeks.
