Just got a good price on an a OBX Helical LSD, it is however for an S13 and I have an S14. Do you need to change out the whole pumpkin? Thanks in advance for the help.

It would be easier for you if you got the whole pumpkin yes. Just swap the rear covers.

Do you have ABS?

No ABS, If it was kept in the pumpkin, would I need to reshim it for the S14?

Not to sound like an ass, but why would you think that? I'm curious as to the reason for your question.

If it's inside the case, it's shimmed properly. Keeping it inside the case doesn't change anything. It doesn't matter what happens outside the case, IE what car, axles, etc. it's bolted up to.

I wasn't quite sure, that's all. I kind of figured you would not need to reshim, but maybe there wasn't something I thought about (ie something crazy like output shaft length). I am not all too familiar with the inner workings of HLSDs. I know what they do, and what type of traction/torque bias they provide. But as in physically working on it, I am still a bit in the dark.

OK, Well, he is cool with swapping out the pumpkins. Is there anything I should be mindfull of since it is and S13 Pumpkin going into an S14.

If possible try to get the two bolts that hold the s14 pumpkin to the subframe (the ones that mount vertically, not horizontal ones that bolt to the diff cover)

it'll make the install a lot easier. if you're swapping hte pumpkins with the other owner, just trade the bolts as well.

when i swapped my pumpkins between my s14 and s13, i had to swap the bolts to mount the pumpkins correctly
