THE STORY:

So my first experience with an s chassis was with my 180sx, which sadly died 3 months after i got it. the chassis was kinked hard so it wasnt worth saving

after that got crashed by a learner driver running a stop sign and me t-boning them, the search was on for a new shell.
while trawling the local parts page a guy messaged me saying he had a registered shell sitting there.

i was skeptical. wasnt sure if i wanted to pick up a car with absolutely horrific paint. but i went and checked it out, signed the papers and half an hour later this was in my driveway and 800 dollars in his pocket

the car came with the following that i knew about:
-a running sr20de
-nothing else
lol

anyway thus began the teardown of the car
stripping the interior

and stripping the interior of the old car

it really gets tedious stripping the same stuff out of 2 cars at the same time

the work area

getting the det ready to rip out of the crashed shell

swapping the subframe out of the crashed shell

bought a new manifold in the process

got my crack free dash into the silvia

then when i was ripping the subframe out of the silvia i noticed that the diff had a wierd rear cover. turns out that my 800 dollar car had an 800 dollar reward in it

score!

anyway. swapped the 2 way into the good subframe (which, at the time, had a bent toe arm, which is visible in this photo, which i didnt find out about till recently. so i drove for over a year and went through like 6 alignments with a bent toe arm. lol. )

got the det out of the parts 180. you can see the chassis kink below the ignitor

motor out of the siliva

got the front 5 stud conversion on with the s15 brakes and she sat in wait while i fixed up the det

rear main looked very recently changed. so didnt bother changing it out

got my 6 boost and the new 2860rs that i purchased on, as well as the earls braided lines

new xtreme hd clutch (still going strong over a year later!)

the parents were not happy about this situation

det motor in!

then i made it run

god i hated how my engine bay looked at this point
(teaser pic of how my engine bay looks currently)

got a new genuine nismo front bar

began on the body work. in hindsight, the first time i did all this was a huge mistake and i cut so many corners and it turned out shocking. lol.

picked up a recaro

decided in some sort of attempt to try and fix the shitty paint, to cut it back and polish it. came up not too bad

got a hold of some bc gold coilovers, kazama tie rod ends, and hardrace rear upper control arms

got myself a power brace

at this point, i just drove the car around enjoying it. it ran well, it drove well, took it down the drag strip a few times, and just had fun.

somewhere in the middle of the driving around i gave it another polish and got a new set of rims. Rota RT5-R's

and probably the best picture i ever took of it while it was blue

i finally got tired of the hideous body work. and after tearing through the passenger side loom from being too low i decided to strip the car and redo it properly

the prep began. and parts were testfitted.

the destroyed loom

that takes us to feb this year. more to come...
