For what it worth Im gonna be building a new S-chassis this coming winter. Co. demo car, I sold my personal black coupe,it went out of state somewhere,& the demo car in my signature(SEMA 09 build) got parted out,not my call on that one. So if any of you remember that car in my sig from a few yrs ago,Im gonna be doing something even more radical this time around.Focusing on big time light weight,& aero tuning, semi tube frame,SR powerplant!!!

Well I had a black & a red coupe lollol
As for sponsorship, Im actually wanting to sponsor a driver with engine development/support,to further promote my engine building program(check out Socal engine rebuild shops thread),Im still working out the details before I go public with the idea I say go with the 30 it will give you a lil more headroom with your tuning.

What do you guys think about tire choices for a weekend/occasional track car? I was thinking about picking up another set of wheels for a stickier set of tires but I'm not sure if it's even worth it with relatively no downforce. I'm currently running Direzza Sport Z1's, but I was thinking about switching to KDW's or maybe the Potenza RE11 if I didn't pick up more wheels.

Most popular tire right now is the hankook RS-3 if you have money I'd keep the star specs or got Toyo r888. But yeah go for the re-11s lol

The rs3s are better than the re11s. Not as good as z1 in the cold/wet, but better in the dry.
Look up what Street Tire autox folks use -- it's a good barometer. |

I don't know how cold it gets in Vegas, but you're not supposed to let the toyos get below freezing. I live in the north east and really wanted a set of RA1s (identicle to the R888 compound, but with another 2/32" of tread depth), but ended up going with the Hankook RS3s for that reason. I was very impressed with the auto cross times I was able to lay down with them, so were the STI and Evo guys I beat up on in my class with a little miata.

I appreciate the input, gentlemen.
SicBastard, It gets cold enough to snow once, but it'll only dip below freezing maybe once a year and barely at that. I guess next question would be about toe settings. I'm converting the car from a drift set up so I imagine I'm going to change some things. As it sits, there's minuscule camber in the rear, about 3* up front and some toe out in the front.

You only need front tow out in high power front wheel drives, or serious autocross cars that are never driven in a straight line.

Supposedly...
Anything in that category of tire is noticeable grippy compared to shit tires. Example Nexxen are cold cold tires, yet if driven knowing such do take the car where it's suppose to go. Just a whole lot slower lol 452s are also grippy, but noisy tires! Great thread |

The Advan AD08 is a great street/track tire that a few of us at the shop run/have run. Even though they are 180 treadwear they still wear very well, they lasted longer then my old Falken RT-615 and my bosses old StarSpecs. The AD08 are also some of the best performing tires in the rain, even when they are pretty low on tread. I currently use the Hankook RS3's and while they might be a faster tire on the track, for daily use I would prefer the AD08's. This is mainly because the amount of heat the RS3's need for them to have grip while turning and braking is much greater then the AD08's.
