Very interesting build. Was cool to read back and see the progress. And now I gotta see this 8-1 completed. Such a cool design

Thanks,

This build is a little over my head personally. BUT, yet again I see craziness everyday. Without the guys here at the shop and friends. This would have been a cookie-cutter LS swap s13.

Looking great so far! I plan to route mine for future FI (turbo). As such I want to keep it close to the middle but as I am looking at the space, it looks like I will have to cheat it to the passenger side.
I cannot wait to see the finished product! Are you going to support the merge collector?

Thanks! Setting up the first runner is truly difficult part. We got the idea to utilize the bends I got for the passenger side runners. We'll see if I run this idea. Might have to shorten the radius of them all to reach the length I need. ** Heat shield for the alternator will be made** LOL

Joe's Performance offers a EASY solution to mount my radiator. Bending a 1.5" BOM pipe to mount the radiator in the back. The distance between is going to be perfect for my rad fan too! I got lucky there.

Do you have to run a electronic water pump to do a rear mounted rad? I've always been interested in doing one but am a little confused on making sure enough pressure is pushed through the system and how it all works together.

From what I've rear on the trophy truck builds. Some run them and some don't. I'm going down a size the transfer coolant pipes to help.

LS pump should have the volume to move the fluids. Lots of Porsche guys run them.

Electric has other benefits including being able to cycle coolant while the engine is not running. You can always upgrade later.

Safety first.

Bent some DOM and tacked/mocked up.

Stainless steel coolant transfer pipe. Waiting for the other pipe to show up. (Super old school Aeroquip hose ends BTW, lol - picked them up for $5 ea.)

What are you doing about the air ducting? I think I've got mine figured out. I would definitely recommend running a surge tank near the radiator. Are you venting the trunk?

Yes, trunk will be vented. And I was planning in using the side quarter panel windows for a naca duct.

Also for aero purposes venting the radiator air to the direct rear of the car through the tailight panel/rearbody vertical area would be better, reduced drag and all by reducing the large low presure area on every car. But it looks like your placement is pretty finalized. Just my .02

Unfortunately there isn't much real estate on S13's for rear venting. If the entire rear section is open (like mine) I am tilting the radiator downward to vent out the bottom. One of my favs is the RK Tuning R32 setup.

Oh i know lol but good thing is its a low pressure area, so it would act like a vaccum and pull the air through, even it was a smaller vent area than the surface area of the rad. Ill be venting an oil cooler and trans/diff cooler out the back of my s13. your right though, very little real estate back there.

Yeah, his set up is gnarly for sure. I was essentially planning on running the same idea as his (and your idea) but instead on the rad downward, i was just duct and run it out the trunk - obviously lol.

Nothing is still in stone, I have a lot of work yet to accomplish before I really figure out the best way for what I have.

Got a chance to finally get the car on the lift last weekend. Knocked out a few things out of my list I had made to get done. But, regardless it was semi successful couple of days.

My MegaSquirt 3 PRO LS PNP engine harness arrived, was very happy with it! (More pics to come of the harness)

Knocked out the number one thing on the list. Mounted the transfer hoses for the rad. I picked up on tig welding rather quick in the last few days. So, i did take advantage and tig welded this all together. Very very secure and I shouldn't have any issues hitting them.
